For my graduation party last year, my parents rented a champagne fountain for relatively cheap (I think it only cost like $20) and filled it with punch. It would be really cool if you had one at your Willy Wonka party and filled it with chocolate fondue- just like the chocolate waterfall from the movie.

(I'm not sure if that's the kind of idea you'd use, but it's one that came to mind)

Crepe paper is a good way to add lots of color and festivity for cheap. You can also use construction paper to cut out shapes to put on the walls and tables.

Instead of flowers as centerpieces, have bouquets of lollipops.

Hide handmade golden tickets around the room, and challenge your guests to "find the golden ticket." Make the tickets out of gold tissue paper or other metalic paper and tape them under chairs, intermixed in the wall decorations, hide them in napkins, by the stereo, wherever else you want.

You need to make it REALLY colorful. Im not really good at explaining how to decorate parties so dont expect much from me. you could make a bunch of plastic flowers and put like candy everywhere. Make things look edible and like candy but not really (that way your party doesn't get eaten) When people come in, hand them a candy necklace maybe? well sorry im not much of a help..good luck and tell me how it goes!

Instead of blowing a ton of money on something like that why not use modest party favors and leave it at that. The money you were going to spend can be given to something related to the movie you never, ever thought of. Have some decorations like place settings and streamer set but try this.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory has a ton of hidden messages and in my day job being a movie critic I know what some of them are. Tim Burton as are 80% of directors and actors are mentally ill with Bipolar Disorder. It is the precurser to brilliance and Tim knows it. Why was he attracted to directing this movie?

Willy Wonka himself is a metaphor for BiPolar people with manic delusion, mood swings, being unstable and maybe frightening to those who do not see his torment etc. Tons of mental illness riffs in this movie it is incredible. Why not donate money to the Mental Health Association as I hate to tell you 1 in 10 of your party guests will have to deal with BiPolar or something themselves on in family by 2010. See this here [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Not that you really care but I think it is better
to donate money wasted on decorations that get
thrown out anyways is better. The movie also has
a ton of religious undertones about good deeds,
purity, and think about it all but Charlie and Grandpa practice at least one of those biblical 7 deadly sins. Wait til Chronicles of Narnia comes out all the religious talk in it undertoned will
cause some kind of flap.
