Just make sure you get out of the house a lot. You have no idea how much time you spent at school until you stop going.
If you are in high school, take some college classes too. That will help you out so much you don't even know. I really wish someone would have told me that. It will save you a lot of time later
When I was doing independent study, I got a syllabus and some books. I turned in the work on the syllabus and that was it. I spent about 4 hours a week in class and that was optional.
If you need someone to do the actual teaching and to motivate you all the time, don't do it. If you have anymore questions, inbox me or leave your aim. I know a lot about homeschooling/independent study and I can give you better pros and cons depending on your concerns. [ AnonymousAdviceGiver's advice column | Ask AnonymousAdviceGiver A Question ]
PrettyLady16 answered Monday September 5 2005, 4:02 pm: Well it really depends if you enjoy being at home and being around you family a lot more. But if school is all that miserable for you then i think you should get home schooled then you dont have to worry about the teachers and it will relieve a lot of your stress so i recommend you taking home school [ PrettyLady16's advice column | Ask PrettyLady16 A Question ]
juneybug6183 answered Monday September 5 2005, 3:31 pm: Some people prefer homeschool, but just because you are being taught at home doesnt mean you will have alot more free time then you would going to public school. It could possibly make it even harder to find time to be with friends. If you are really that interested in it I would suggest maybe doing a trial run for a few weeks before totally jumping into it. Once you have tried it you may prefer your public school situation after all. [ juneybug6183's advice column | Ask juneybug6183 A Question ]
__STACEESxoCOLUMN__ answered Monday September 5 2005, 3:28 pm: Well, none of us are TOO pleased with the fact that we have to wake up and go to school every morning, so don't feel like you're alone here. BUT, going from being at a public school to homeschooling is a BIG change and you must understand that. No matter how horrible school may seem or how awesomee homeschooling sounds, this is NOW, and you gotta think about the long-run too. Not going to school with other kids often causes a great loss of social contact and eventually, when your older, your 'people skills' may not be the greatest. But, you also won't have to go through what the average school-girl-or-guy goes through each day. Bullying, fights, cafeteria (haha). BUT, don't think that homeschooling is EASIER when it comes to academics. You're STILL gonna have to be tested & work hard, and if you're being schooled by your parent(s), they're probly gonna be much stricter on you. Make a pro & con list or discuss these main points with your parents. =DD BEST OF LUCK!! <3 stacee [ __STACEESxoCOLUMN__'s advice column | Ask __STACEESxoCOLUMN__ A Question ]
