Friend's Injury

Question Posted Sunday September 4 2005, 4:02 pm

A few days ago my friend hurt her foot. Now its all swollen and she can't walk! But her parents refuse to take her to the doctor, saying that she's blowing it all out of proportion. How do we get her parents to take her?

OK ask and ask again but if they say no, (do this for your friends sake) go without them and take her yourself. If its serious and she has a broken bone, that could be bad if you don't treat it as soon as possible
Good Luck and God Bless Your Friend.

That can be very serious - and she needs medical attention. If you are not of driving age yet, see if your parents might take her to the emergency room. Right now, to help use the R.I.C.E. method (R=rest I=ice C=compression E=elevation ie: don't walk on it, put ice on it, along with an Ace Bandage wrap and keep it elevated) If you are in school already, and your friend goes to school, take her to the school nurse first thing in the morning. Good luck!

Herm...that's weird that her parents won't take her.

Perhaps talk to someone about it? Talk to your parents so they can talk to her parents? You have to do everything you can to try and make them take her.

Is it one of those things where they're saying "Its going to go away on its own?" Because I've had that happen with my aunt when I was staying at her house. It ended up I broke my foot in half.

Erm...well, just try everything. I'm not quite sure how to answer this! :/

Her parents are idiots. Ignoring an obvious injury and refusing to take her because they think she is "blowing it all out of proportion". That's crap, you and your friend should get her parents together, sit them down, and show them how bad it is, and they say "Does this look like she are blowing it out of proportion? She can't even walk!" If that isn't going to show them how bad it is, then just find a way to get to a doctor any way you can to get it fixed, because her parents just showed they don't care enough to get it looked at.

Hope this helps and your friends foot gets better.

dear asker ♥ well personally i think her parents are being very very stupid about this. i mean this is their child, and they dont want to help her? keep talking to her parents..tell them how she hurt her foot, when, where..tell them that she should be looked at before something worse happens to the injury..maybe soon they'll get the picture that she needs to be looked at. i really hope you get them to take her..sorry if this advice sucks.

well this is a seriuos thing i mean if your friends foot is really hurt bad then she needs to get medical help really soon my advice is that you talk to her parents about how serious her injuries can be then if they wont take her than yo should tell someone you trust and see if they can take her.

Try insisting to them that she really needs to or have a parent of yours to talk to them that it is very important but that they are not trying to teach them how to be a parent but are only trying to help and how can they convince them.It is probably better for the adults to convince one another I'm sure they will listen to one of your parents.
