I just did a survey and I seriously don't know...what the heck does 'cut some rug' mean? The question was "would you cut some rug with me?". Help please.
MummuM answered Saturday September 3 2005, 12:57 pm: To "cut some rug" simply means to dance. This was kind of like a slang back in the day. So, when someone goes up to you and says "want to cut some rug?", it means "would you like to dance?".

MELiixMARiiE answered Saturday September 3 2005, 11:28 am: To 'cut a rug ' means to dance. They used that term in like, the 50's or so. Or the person on the survey's just trying to be funny and means will you actually cut out some rug with me. But I think he probably means 'dance'.. I hope I helped!
LaydeeAki answered Friday September 2 2005, 5:40 pm: Cut some rug can mean anything to anybody from the way they use it. My friends would use it as " come over and flirt with some boys with me" But Usually when someone says " Cut some rug" they mean to dance feverishly, wild & intense. ;) good lucking on your dancing survey. Mercy_x_Me answered Friday September 2 2005, 5:10 pm: In most cases, "cutting up the rug" means to dance really intensely with someone, lol! If you tell someone their cutting up the rug, it means they're dancing good or something along those lines. That question probably means, would you dance with me? karenR answered Friday September 2 2005, 5:07 pm: Cutting the rug is an older term meaning to dance. So if someone says to you lets cut the rug...they mean they want to dance! :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
