if you dont want to ask your mom for a tampon then you could always ask a friend for one..or maybe a close relative . .? or you could even go into the bathrooms at school and buy some ! ]
theyre comfortable, you shouldnt be able to feel them, try the lowest absobancy first. they have instructions inside to and once you get the hang of it, its second nature. just ask your mom...its not different from buying pads so just go for it! <3 ]
When i first started getting my period, i didn't want to ask my mom anything about it either, most girls don't because when we all get our periods its kind of embarressing, but in a year or so we all grow out of the stage and realize everyone has it, and become more open with it. But until then..
go in your moms bathroom, and get the tampon box, there is PLENTY of information on there about how to insert it and everything else you need to know about tampons.
Now to get some without your mom knowing, you can either just take some from her tampon box, or ask your friends for some, there are also machines in public restrooms you can get tampons from forlike a quarter or so, and the school nurse gives free tampons..
I reccomend using plastic applicators over cardboard. They are much easier to use and a lot more comfortable in my opinion.
Good luck! ]
look in your moms tampon box, it gives you alot of info on it
or you can go to www.beinggirl.com
at school, dont you have a tampon thing where they have that machiene and you put 25 cents in and it gives you one? well if so, bring like about 3 dollars in qarters, and take some! ]

Personally, I would think asking your Mom would be a hell of a lot LESS embarrassing than walking into a store and purchasing them yourself!! Perhaps that's just me though?
Either way, this site should be of some help to you:
