I was thinking about joining Drama Club this year and I was wondering if any of you liked it?? I'm kind of shy and I’m hoping this will help me to become more outgoing. In Drama Club you don't have to act at all right?? You can just do "behind the scene" stuff right?? Well tell me what you think about Drama Club. Thanks alot. I rate 5's!

VainTaraLynn answered Thursday August 25 2005, 1:03 am: I was friends with a few people who were in Drama Club, and they loved it. They said it was a great way to meet new people and open up and be less shy. In that club everyone just basically becomes friends, and theres really no hate, or so Ive heard. You dont have to act if you dont want to, no. You can do behind the scenes, scenery, lights, anything you want. =) [ VainTaraLynn's advice column | Ask VainTaraLynn A Question ]

I hear people make a ton of friends, learn new skills, and have fun in the club...i would definitly try it...i think you might have to do acting some how...unless you ask just tp dp backstage work but i dont knw if backstage work will make you very outgoing, but even if you do have to act...give it a shot! it's a ton of fun and alot of actors are really outgoing! hope i helped!!

iSpEaKsPaNiSh answered Wednesday August 24 2005, 12:58 pm: I do drama and it is just amazingly fun. You meet so many people. I made more friends in my grade and it older grades. acting on stage you could get just a small role if you want..or even a big one but it sounds like you are more into doing crew. i have friends who did crew and they had a blast. i highly recommend it. TheOldOne answered Wednesday August 24 2005, 12:55 pm: I've done all sorts of stuff related to acting (not professionally, though), and I have to say, it's definitely fun and should help you deal with the shyness a bit.
You can certainly do behind the scenes stuff like makeup, scenery, props, lighting, costume, sound, or prompting; most theatrical groups and clubs desperately need people to do that sort of thing (usually many of those jobs are handled by the same person). You might even want to try doing a little acting; it's fun, and kind of addictive.
Acting, of course, would help you more with the shyness than anything else. But even behind the scenes stuff is fun and will give you some social interaction.

coolwater answered Wednesday August 24 2005, 6:11 am: you dipshit! what the hell does working in the background of the drama club do to you? nothing! if you don't act and star on plays and all you do is background shit. believe me you are wasting your time on something you're dreaming of, just can't handle. guess what... there are 2 persons out in the world. one of the persons DREAM of accomplishments and goals. and the otehr half WAKES UP TO REALITY and does them!!! if you want to be more outgoing, try talking to more people, do not join drama club if you're still shy. it called "drama club" BECAUSE YOU'RE SO SUPOSE TO BE DRAMATIC!!! dduhhh. its not that hard. if you're shy, try gaining more friends and start talking to MORE people. and i dont mean 10 people i mean ATLEAST 15 PEOPLE IN EACH OF YOUR CLASSES. if you cant handle the pressure of being active and optimistic i suggest you just stay in your little corner. goodluck and im only scolding you because i want you to realize what the hell you're doing.

xO_aLex_xO answered Wednesday August 24 2005, 2:27 am: drama club and plays are sooo much fun- you meet lots of new people and you have a blast- but if you are nervous- just ask for a smaller part when you put on plays and stuff...be in the chorus or have a small talking role- just pretend like your by yourself- what i do is i just say to myself- you have to do this...and plus one you get out there and you start singing/dancing/acting- it just flows...trust me...and eventually you can work yourself up to STAR OF THE SHOW! also next summer do acting camps and stuff...:)
