A "swinger" is someone in a long-term relationship or already married. They talk it over with their partner and it's okay for them to see other people, while they're still together. It's usually just a one night thing where they have sex with someone else. So it's like you're with one person, but sleeping with two people.

Basically, it's someone who is in a serious dating (or marriage) relationship and decides (with their partner) that it would be okay to see other people. Usually it doesn't stop at SEEING the person, they usually sleep with them. Married couples will exchange partners in bed and dating couples will be dating Person 1 and sleep with Person 2. Makes sense?
