Okay, I finally convinced my mom to start letting me wear tampons. But we're going in the afternoon to get them. (And Im on my period) But my dad wanted me to go down on his bike (motorcycle) to a couple places that are hours away, even in another state, and I have to wear pads. Last time I had an overflow. I'm afraid of that happening again. We're going in the morning at like 11:00am. So what can I do to prevent this? Is there anything I can do? And for another question, what about the tampons? Will they hurt, what if I forget about them,or if I can't understand the directions? Please help. Sorry this is so long. But i'll rate high for good answers. Thanks a lot.

I had a hard time switching over to tampons, but i like them soo much more. It all depends on how comfortable you are! If you forget about you're tampon, nothing will happen! It may leak because it is too full, but thats about all that can happen. Tampons take a while to get used to but just remember to stay relaxed! If you are goin on a long trip and do not have time to change your tampon, try wearing a very thin pad inderneath just in case of a leak.. there are also larger tampons that hold more so that there is a lesser chance of this happening. Start with the smaller tampons first to get used to how it feels. Remember it should never hurt! if it does maybe you put it in wrong or that brand may cause some kind of discomfort. The directions are pretty easy but just remember do whatever feels best for you! hope i helped! <3 [ tellmemore381's advice column | Ask tellmemore381 A Question ]

LoveNJstyle answered Saturday August 13 2005, 5:39 pm: if your heavy (it can happen the second time your on it) get regular. that should keep you safe on the bike. if your still nervous wear a thin pad along with it. no, it wont hurt. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
ananas answered Saturday August 13 2005, 12:14 pm: To answer the tampon question, make sure you start out with a Junior or Light Tampon. They shouldn't hurt, but they might feel a little uncomfortable. If you can feel it, chances are it's in wrong. Remove it, and try again. It usually takes a few tries to get the process right.
Don't worry, you won't forget about it. The directions are pretty simple...just remember to never leave it in for more than 8 hours.
*BraNdi* answered Saturday August 13 2005, 10:16 am: hey! try wearing pantyliners for the overflow problem if you have any..or try wearing bigger pads..and change them as often as you can..if you use a tampon correctly it wont hurt..it might just a little bit the first time you use one but that's normal and you'll get use to it..and you won't forget about it, don't worry..and the directions are really easy to follow..you might not even need them very long! hope i helped. VainTaraLynn answered Saturday August 13 2005, 4:22 am: You could either buy a super absorbent pad, or not go on the bike ride, if your afraid of leaking. It shouldnt be too bad if your on a bike though because you'll be sitting and remaining in the same position. It tends to leak when you sleep or are active. And as for the tampons. They dont hurt - and if you forget about them its no big deal. but im sure you wont. because you'll have to pee eventually and remember it, lol. The directions arent hard, its really simple. Teza answered Saturday August 13 2005, 1:13 am: Just wear heavy flow pads. Ask your dad to stop every few hours so you can go to the bathroom and change your pad. Tampons do not hurt. It might feel a little bit weird when you first put it in because you never have before but you will get used to them right away. They are super comfy! You wont forget about them! It`s kinda imposible lol! && yes you will understand the directions dont worry. Just relax. [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
jean_nicole answered Friday August 12 2005, 11:27 pm: You should just tell your dad that your on your period and that you'll have to stop every few hours to change your pad or tampon. It may seem like something you wouldn't want him to know but he will understand. Also if you don't feel like telling him have your mom do it. *ashlee* answered Friday August 12 2005, 11:20 pm: you will totally be able to understand the directions, and the first time i used one it didnt hurt. it shouldnt hurt ever, and if it does, youve done it wrong. but that never happens. you say your going today to get tampons, so in the morning just put one in, and also wear a pad. that way if you leak past your tampon then you have backup. then when you make a pit-stop change them both, and everything will be just fine. by the way, your going to love tampons. they are so much more comfortable than pads and they definately dont leak like pads do. so good luck and have fun on your trip [ *ashlee*'s advice column | Ask *ashlee* A Question ]

HEYxBEAUTIFUL answered Friday August 12 2005, 10:50 pm: Ok... Try wearing a heavy flow pad when you are with your dad or play sick and say you don't want to go. Tampons don't hurt at all. They are so comfortable. Just start off with a slim fit tampon and then work your way up. They are self explainable to put it and I'm almost possitive you wont forget. If you have problems just ask your mom .

brittani32 answered Friday August 12 2005, 10:34 pm: dont worry... they wont hurt... and if you are really worried about the pain then buy slimfits... platex are the best... dont let anyone tell you different.. dont buy tampax unless you want to make things worse for ya... they have cardboard applicators and they DO hurt.. but platex has much more comfortable plastic applicators that glide right in easily... ((the actual tampon is cotton tho)) once you get it in a string will hang out... when you are ready to change it in around 3/4 hours just pull the string and it will come right out!! but remember no tampax.. platex only!! trust me!! and if you need smaller than just regular or super or super plus... then buy "slim fits" theyre made by platex tho.. it'll say on the box "platex slimfits"
