ShYbl0nD3 answered Wednesday August 10 2005, 9:59 pm: i sing! lol well depending on your style of music, you could sing to kelly clarkson or leann rimes. even jojo or mariah carey. You could also try singing to christina aguilera or martina mcbride.
Those are the ones i usually practice to. It trains your voice pretty good. [ ShYbl0nD3's advice column | Ask ShYbl0nD3 A Question ]
HEYxBEAUTIFUL answered Wednesday August 10 2005, 9:54 pm: I'm a soprano but I can try to help you. You could practice on songs that are slow. I would suggest buying the American Idol CD and singing some of those songs. But you can try Mariah Carey's We belong together. You could also try D.H.T's Listen to your Heart.

grobanitegrl227 answered Wednesday August 10 2005, 8:35 pm: well i know a lot of excercises you can do...see how high/low you can go etc, but for songs try simple things... and i know it sounds stupid, but things like "Mary Had a Little Lamb" just to test your voice. and then try things that are more complex... Colors of the Wind... God Help the Outcasts... Disney stuff is actually really good practice for a voice... and then finally to Broadway with Dont Rain on My Parade, When Youre Good to MaMa, All That Jazz... MFS answered Wednesday August 10 2005, 8:03 pm: "near" mezzo-soprano? On the high or low side?
I've never sang in a "formal" sense - singing just sort of got thrust on me because no one else would in the band I was in. Then it was just something I did in the car for many years until recently we tried playing in a band-like situation again.
Really, as far as particular songs? Pick anything that you have interest in singing and seems to fit your range decently - no need to go after something that's an octave too high unless you feel like taking it all down an octave.
Anyway, there's about a billion songs out there to choose from - perhaps pick a genre, like showtunes, folk, classic rock, modern pop, death metal, jazz, etc... and just try a few things. No harm in trying, and especially no harm in listening. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
