my friend had the same problem but it was with the University disk. she had some hardrive problem or something like that but that shouldn't be happening with a new computer. is yours new or passed down? Also... i had the same problem on my computer when i got my new computer too. but then i tried to reload it again and it went really quickly.

reply to my inbox if you have more problems with it. i'm a Sims freak and know a lot about computers

1) there might not be enough memory.
2) your computer might be too old for the game.

i have the sims2- you might want to go do something else when its loading b/c it does take a while...if it continues to freeze(like after a very long time...) i would either go to sims2.com or even go back to the place you got the game from beacuse most of the time they know whats going on...

oh and if that dosnt work try installing it on the D or E drive b/c sometimes the C is all full...E works the best...and the fastest...

hope i helped

I might be wrong (It's either on The Sims 2 or The Sims 2: University) but you can play a game during the download and if you play the game it messes up or you might need to clean the disks. It happened to me buuuuuuuut, I fixed it and I can't remember how.....sheesh...If I think of it I'll add onto this. Try cleaning the disk for now and not playing the game.

3 of my other friends have sims2 as well. they all say that it freezes on their computer too! i think there is something wrong with the actual game, but not your computer. try calling technical support.

Try deleting all the Sims stuff on that computer and install it again. Of course, it might be a problem with the disc (if that's the case then there isn't much you can do besides getting a new one), but if you managed to install it on your other computer that shouldn't be the case, unless you somehow damaged the disc after you installed it on the other computer.

You can play the Sims on your other computer without affecting what your sister have, make a new account on the computer by going to Control Panel > User Accounts, and play from that account.

MFS answered Tuesday August 9 2005, 4:43 am:
I assume you've checked to make sure you have enough disk space, yes?

Could it be that the 3rd disc is corrupt? It happens - a CD gets burned at the factory and just contains bad data.

It could also be that at 49% - it is trying to install a component that is conflicting with something already installed on your computer. You can try shutting down all background tasks and install again to see if that gets you any further.
