hair straighteners

Question Posted Monday August 8 2005, 9:33 am

I was walking thru the mall and a lady with a hair straightener stand stopped me and asked if she could straighten my hair to advertise her profuct. She said "this is a ceramic hair straightener that the salons use. it doens't damage your hair and it actually brings out the softness in your hair. you can get this at a salon for $200 but we're selling it here for $99." I was like WTF! 99 DOLLARS?! I loooooved the straightener though... So I was wondering whats the difference between a ceramic one and a regular one? Can you get a decent one at CVS or walmart for under say, 20 bucks?

I have a really good not ceramic one. It's from ULTA. It was about 25 dollars. Its the best thing in the world. Cant live without it. You usually cant get a really good one for less than 20 though. My hair straightener is called HOT TOOLS PROFESSIONAl.

Good luck!

i got one at rite aid for like 15 dollars. but all straighters are bad for your hair. if you use them too much, your hair will break off. it happened to a family friend after 3 years of using it alot. i use mine for special events. but, i don'r reccomend one for everyday use. but rite aid has some good ones.

Buying the one for 99 dollars is your best bet. You can get one for 20 but they're just not as good. Some grab your hair and pulls it out as your straigtining*sp* it. and she's right, it doesn't damage your hair. The one for 99 will also last longer, and will most likely straighten and heat up faster.

you can .. but the more pricey usually the better.. i have a ceramic one and its 39 dollars.. or something like that. and it works really good. i have curly hair and when i straighted it is really straigh. do you have a sally's by you? try that place. or maybe if you have Trading secret.. or any other beauty place..

but i wouldnt recomend CVS if you want a really good one.

best of luck . justine xO

No.The expensive straighteners really do work and they are really worth what you pay for them. You can get ones for $20 at CVS or Walmart but I went through 2 other straighteners before I finally just decided to get a Chi. The straighteners for that price range just don't work.

Ceramic straighteners doesn't damage your hair as much as a regular straightener does. Basically, they work better. The ceramic straightener that I use sort of defrizzes my hair in a way. You probably won't find a decent one at CVS or Walmart for under twenty dollars. But if you go to your local Sally's Beauty Supply, all the straighteners usually cost less, since the price is reduced. That's where I got mine for about one-hundred dollars.

Well the ceramic ones are supposed to help make your hair smoother and they don't cause as much damage. I don't think you're going to find one as good as that one at Wal-Mart or wherever. The really good ones can't be bought in regular stores. I used to have a Conair one that was black with gold plates and it was like $20. It worked pretty good but recently I got one of the ones like you saw in the mall. They are so worth the money. Hope this helps!

Ceramic straighteners are the ones with the gold plates. They always seem to work better for my hair. Other straighteners have silver plates.
