pervy doctor?

Question Posted Wednesday July 20 2005, 8:02 am

hi, this has been bugging me for ages. when i was 13 i got the chicken pox. i went to the hospital and was seen by a male doctor. he asked me to take my top off to have a better look at my spots. i had them on my arms and body. then he told me to take my cami-top off too so i'd be naked down to my waist. i cried but he insisted it had to be done. so i did and he touched my breasts...all this was to confirm i had chicken pox. thats not normal is it?

MummuM answered Wednesday July 20 2005, 12:46 pm:
He sounds like he's a big time perv and what he did wasn't normal at all. My little cousin had the chicken pox and all they did was look at her arms and tummy. There's no reason why he should be telling you to take your shirt off and feeling your breast, just to know if it's chicken pox's or not. They can figure that out just by looking at your face, arms, and legs. I think you need to tell your parents about this, especially when it's upsetting you so much. Tell them as soon as you can!

DrJenny answered Wednesday July 20 2005, 10:17 am:
I can see no reason for a breast examination to confirm a diagnosis of chicken pox.
You must tell your mother for the simple reason it was obviously an upsetting experience for you and it's obviously been worrying you for far too long.
However, it should have been reported at the time, although you would have found it very difficult to prove. It would have been your word against his, but DO report it. You may well not be alone in this, if he is guilty of professional misconduct my guess is he will have or maybe still is behaving in this way with others. If further complaints are received from other patients, the powers that be will have no choice but to investigate.
Hope you find this helpful.

It's natural for a doctor to want to examine your body thoroughly. With that said, if he did more than just touch (Did he rub or pinch?), then he was taking it too far and you need to tell your parents and report this doctor to both the hospital and the medical board.

If you didn't have chicken pox on your chest then i don't think he should of looked. You can tell your parents but if it happened a long time ago there isn't much that you could do. but you should tell your parents so that you don't see that doctor again.
