im so scared, okay in a few months im getting a tonsiectimy(sp?) im getting my tonsils out. and im going to be on my period during it!! im really secretive about my periods..can they operate on me while im on it? i have to get anisteshia(sp?) that will put me to sleep

First off, I don't know if they can do the surgery on your period, I think they can, but you /need/ to tell your doctor that you will be having it at the same time as the surgery. You don't want anything to go wrong. Don't worry about the tonsilectomy part, I had it done, too, it's no big deal. Don't eat the ice cream, though, it stings your throat afterwards. Popsicles are good. Soup is good too. Just be sure to tell your doctor that you'll ahve your period.

Get a good pad or something like that. You'll be fine.
And buy lots of yogurt and jello and icecream.

Being on your period will not affect the anesthesia, or any other part of the operation. Its a relatively minor surgery, there's very, very, few things that would hold off the surgery, and a period is definantly not one of them. ;) Good luck!

alright...well...if they do the same thing they did to me when i had surgery your going to have a problem..especially if you use pads. when i had eye surgery...they didnt let me wear my underwear...luckily i wasnt on mine. so i would use tampons...or pray that they let you wear your underwear! hope this helps! rate me please!

HeY doLL! Nobody is gonna know that you have your period! Unless you wanna tell them... haha no.... your tonsils are in your mouth... and your period happens way farther south! to operate on your tonsils... theres no way that they'll know that its that time of the month! just make sure wear the right kind of absorbant tampon (if you wear them!) so you dont leak during the surgery! so dont panick girl... your cool!

i got my tonsils taken out, but i don*t think i was on my period during it. It won*t be a big deal @ all the surgery is literally about 20 minutes long so not bad @ all. Just make sure you have in a good tampon//pad n you*ll be fine! best of luck hun!! <3 <3 chelsea

Hey, sup? Well I had my tonsils taken out two years ago and even though they put you 2 sleep it really doesn't affect your menstrual flow @ all. I think you should be more worried over the fact that you won't be able to talk for a week n hald minimum> lol. Hey look on the bright side..I hope you like ice cream cause you'll need to eat a lot of it. Gl. Xo.
