BlondeBabe0282 answered Sunday July 17 2005, 3:34 pm: You absolutely have to build up your stamina. Anyone who puts their mind to it can be a good track member! I would suggest starting to run in your neighborhood or wherever you can. When the tryouts come then you'll really know what you need to work on..but just conditioning yourself should be good for now. [ BlondeBabe0282's advice column | Ask BlondeBabe0282 A Question ]
emoguitarchick21 answered Saturday July 16 2005, 12:10 pm: well if you wanna do sprints... practice that. If you do long distance run like heck... cause long distance needs to know how to pace. Sprints need to know how to be fast for a short period of time. Next if your gonna throw something lift weights. Cause they gotta be really strong. And if your doing high jump or long jump workout your legs...
Hope I helped wanna know more about track and stuff... just ask it!
dancinqueen08 answered Saturday July 16 2005, 12:41 am: Not everyone likes track or can handle it. You have to be pretty committed to run as much as necessary to do well. If you don't want to run that much, you can always do field events which is just as hard and takes just as much commitment, but not as much running. You should start running around the neighborhood or the track and just build up your endurance for the upcoming season. A pretty common workout is to start running and timing a mile every day, and try to get the time lower each time you run. Once that becomes easier increase your mileage to 2, and if necessary 3. Of course preparing is different for each event, so if you're running sprints it'll be different than if you run long distance. Hope I helped. If you have any more questions just ask me. orphans answered Friday July 15 2005, 5:27 pm: Well track isnt for everyone but that doesnt mean not everyone can try it. To prepare for tryouts start running on a treadmill then work your way up to a real track with a buddy and see how you have advanced dont forget to praise yourself after every time you practice. Good luck running hope you make the team in January!! [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
X0C0URT answered Friday July 15 2005, 12:59 pm: Track is definitely not for everyone. It requires a lot of indurance and concentration. If you can handle that then you are perfect for it. To practice for tryouts the best thing to do is stretch everyday, practice long distance running, and try to work out your legs. If yo have a trampoline that is really good exercise and so is bike riding. Good luck!
VixenDark answered Friday July 15 2005, 12:45 pm: Track is not for everyone. Sprints aren't good unless you are quick. If you do not have the endurance, it will not be very fun in long distance.
If you really want to, then for distance, start walk/jogging a mile. Every time, jog a bit more. Then jog the whole way. Then jog/run, running more and more untill you can run the whole way.
akissintheshapeofabullet answered Friday July 15 2005, 12:30 pm: First off, it depends on what you want to run. Sprints or distance? Distance I would practice running a mile everyday, and work your way up to longer distances. Sprints, you need to lift weights for your arms and legs. You also need to practice a good running form, which would be looking straight ahead and not swinging your arms infront of you. I would ask the coach for the track team what she//he suggests you do, becuase every school is different.
SWANKiFiED answered Friday July 15 2005, 12:28 pm: No, track is not for everyone. However, if you have strong endurance and stamina then it's perfect for you! Preparing for track tryouts is pretty simple. Make sure at least a few months before you're running-- alot. Schedual a run, let's say, twice a day, around your neighborhood. Also, you're going to need to stretch. When you're watching TV or reading, sit in a split or as far as you can go. And last, you are going to have to alter your eating habbits. I'm not sure if you're a healthy eater now but try incorporating many fruits and vegetables into your diet. Good luck, I know you'll do great! skater_shoes_x3 answered Friday July 15 2005, 11:23 am: track is a sport for anyone. & if you dont like running, i would take up the "field" part of track. [ because its really called track & field but no one says field anymore. haa ] but to prepare just jog somewhere. dont kill yourself before tryouts. just work yourself up. i would recommend jogging through a park or somewhere that has a lot of trees so that there isnt much sunlight & you wont get as hot. hope i helped!
