Question Posted Wednesday July 6 2005, 12:36 pm

I just resent went for a CT-Scan test on my sinuses and im awaiting my results. I'm so nerious , I'm thinking the worst, tumors, cancer and surgery!! I went to the dr's last fri and her checked me and her said I had no infection??? Should I really get myself sick over this??? I have had such congestion in my nose nothing releases and my ears congested also?? every medication i was given I was nervious to take!! I had the test done 7/5/05 im sure if there was anything very serious im sure the dr 's office would of contacted me??? Right??? I spoke to there office this morning and I have to get the films at the hospital on Friday, I'm hoping I get the results by then???

When I actually had the test done last night, I had a panic attack, and the technician , told me everything is ok and go home????

Im so so scared?????

i had the same thing. i had the whole ct scan and the doctor couldnt tell if anything was wrong. i had a sinus infection but no medicine helped. i tried organic nose spray and that worked better then anything. in the meantime don't worry about the results everything will be fine. letting yourself get worked up will only make you feel worse.

Getting a sinus scan does not necessarily mean that you have anything major wrong. I had one done because of recurrent infections before. I had constant headaches. I ELECTED (meaning didn't HAVE to) to have surgery to clear my sinuses and make them more open. Headaches cured.
While doing the surgery the doctor told me that I had a bone out of place in my nose that had been blocking things. Said I could have broken it as a toddler and not even known it. He said it was actually quite common. So, it doesn't have to mean anything major. Hope that eases your mind somewhat. Nothing to make yourself sick over.

After you get your film from the hospital, your doctor will read it before your appointment. He will give you the results then. Don't panic about it. It will be over soon! Let me know what you find out, I'm sure it will be fine. :)

Aw, I'm really sorry. Sounds to me exactly like what my mom has. She's had a sinus infection for like 2 years and never gets rid of it. She takes medicine, and nothing works. She went and got a catscan a year ago, and nothing came up. She went a month ago, and got another one, and they found two scists (sp?). They're really nothing, but if they don't treat them right, then they will turn into cancer in about a year. the doctors SHOULD have contacted my mom about it, but they didn't. Now she has to go get her nose broken, and re-fixed. Thennn she has to under-go surgery and gets the scists (sp?) removed. I don't know if that's your case, but that's what it sounds like to me. I would go talk to the doctors, and make them re-check you again. I wouldn't want that to happen to you what my mom's going through. Hope everything goes well!!

Listen to the doctors. They know what they are doing. Take the medicines they prescribe for you. They will help. It's okay to be scared and expect the worst, thats what I do, but it only makes things worse. You need to catch your breath. Sometimes worrying can make you sick, in fact sometimes colds can even be pyshcological. One time I was so worried about catching my cousins cold, I got myself stressed out about it and I ended up getting something. And by the way, you most likely DON'T have a brain tumor, because they hurt real bad. So seriously, calm down.
P.S. This is something I found interesting in my Seventeen Magazine> People who have less stress tend to live longer. *So don't turn into a hypochondriac! Good luck! (I'm sure your fine)

no big deal ... if theres no infection dont worry ... i had one of those cat scans ... they just want to see whas causeing conjestion ... most likely its a deviated septum ... its where there is a little break in your nose and the fluid cant drain properly ... you can either leave it alone or get it corrected with a simple surgery to fix it you need to get a nose job and they will fix the break. to get the results go to your doctor or ENT and they will tell you whats going on ... usualy if they find anything they will put a paper in the scan saying what they found and you can read that . good luck.

Well im no brain surgeon, but i know when people are put in situations about their safety they get very nervous and think the worse ALWAYS. I know youre very very very nervous, but itll probably be nothing. If it was anything remotely cancerous the doctor would have the results *overnighted* so they could deal with the problem sooner. Im sure its just a very very bad cold. Well i hope i helped a little! Get Well Soon! Sammerz
