SouthernGirl323 answered Tuesday July 5 2005, 1:48 pm: try singing with someone else, like in a duet, and do it in front of people you're really close too. it may help you feel less like you in the spotlight and hopefully will help you gain some confidence in your voice! :) [ SouthernGirl323's advice column | Ask SouthernGirl323 A Question ]

And everyone gets nervous before a performance and while they're on stage, but the way that I get over it is to pretend the audience isn't there. I know it sounds hard to do, but seriously, if you just imagine you're in the shower or something singing on your own then your voice will come through strong and confident. Also try things like drinking hot drinks before a performance as these help your throat.
P.S good luck with your audition! [ cicci's advice column | Ask cicci A Question ]

Razhie answered Tuesday July 5 2005, 9:50 am: Stage fright takes alot to get over, but it is completely beatable. It might be really good for you if you practiced singing in front a one or two people who you really trust and then build from there. Also remember:
When people get scared they start to breath faster and shallower, that puts more oxygen in their body and makes them MORE neverous! So control your breathing, slowly and deeply. You'll be surprised just how much calmier you feel.
A little trick I use when I'm on stage is I look at peoples hair, I just check out thier hair the whole time, cause looking in faces just makes me terrified and having something else to think about is helpful.
