behind my back!

Question Posted Friday July 1 2005, 4:39 pm

I'm 16, moving to college this fall, I have at the moment 3 people I consider to be my best friends... we're not going to the same colleges, but I never doubted for a second we wouldn't keep in touch, we've been friends for nearly 5 years, had our ups and downs but been solid for a year!
Well we decided a month or so ago we were all going to go together to get some piercings done! and tried to decide a date, it kept getting moved for various reasons... finally we decided wednesday but I found out I had an appointment on that day... and also needed to check with my workplace they didnb't have any problems with facial peircings... so asked if we could go next week instead... anyhow I found out today they went without me! the thing is, they didn't even tell me they were going... my friend said the other two decided to go because there was a party today and they wanted to show it off there... and she went along with them... now the thing is, I wouldn't have minded so much if they'd told me this, but I'm really hurt they value showing a pericing off more then going with their friend... and also that they went behind my back :(
What should I do about this? I have events and gigs coming up where I'm going with them and I don't know what to say to them or how I should react! I do tend to be a little emotional about these things but to me this is a big thing, that they chose this party over me!

Everyone does stupid things sometimes...and this is your friends' time. I'm sure you have made mistakes over the years and wanted to b forgiven for it...well when they show that they are truly sorry...then they might b worth it...i mean...some people choose showing off things instead of friends and then those people regret it. So if they do regret it...forgive them and make them go with you to get your percing! For now just act natural and just casually bring it up. AsH!

Wow!
That's not right! The don't need to be promising you anything, if they're just going to break their promise. I would talk to them and say how you feel and see what they say. I know, probably a lot of people tell you this but it's the right thing to do. Either that or call them, or email them or whatever you want to do. Then, if they act insensitive about it, then, just get TWO peircings WITH SOMEONE ELSE that are better than theirs, and that'll make you look better than because you ARE better than them and I don't know you personally but I can tell YOU would never do what they did to one of YOUR best friends! They should take it the right way and understand you, if they really care about what you think and feel and they shouldn't act insensitive but IF THEY DO, than, GOD I HATE TO SAY THIS BUT... you can't be having friends like that because when you start hanging around peole like that for a while, you start to BECOME like them and you DO NOT want to become like them.
If you want to talk about something TOTALLY off topic or need more advice, email me in my advicenators inbox OR email me at kitty_kats123@yahoo.com O.K?

Best of luck!

things like this happen in friendships..similar stories have happened to me and probably everyone here at advicenators. what im trying to say is dont let this ruin a good friendship. everything else in your friendship is good right? so i wouldnt start a fight over something just to make matters worse. this situation can be fixed by you asking for them to come along with you when you get yours done. im sure they will say yes.
