jade answered Thursday June 30 2005, 3:46 pm: when i was trying to get into shape i started a weekly workout schedule. i would pick something different for every day of the week, and usually i would keep sunday as an excersise free break day! first i think it's important to think about what you really want to work on, this way you can find excersises targeting that specific part. after-all, if you want flat abs it would't make much sense to do lunges instead of crunches! what i did was i would play tennis one day, walk about 2 miles the next, ride my bike for about 2 miles the next, do yoga one day, pilates the next, and then do a lot of small excersises-like lunges, crunches, lifting weights etc...
as far as eating healthy goes, i'm sure you've heard it all before- fruits, veggies, substitute white bread for whole weat bread etc...
sundevilette answered Thursday June 30 2005, 1:13 pm: Here are the steps I suggest you take and why:
1. Join a gym: While at they gym you can start out by doing minimum 30 minutes of cardio. Then you lift weights, because after doing cardio you need to tone up your body (that's what really makes you look in shape). Whether you do free weights or the equipment you should start out doing 2 sets of 10-15 then once you get use to it move it to 3 sets of 10. Also, gyms always have classes you can take like yoga or aerobics to make it fun, most times you don't have to pay extra but every gym is different.
2. Eat healthy: if you like sushi then that is an excellent choice to make, no more crap food (icecream, cookies, chips, fastfood, soda), people say to stop eating carbs and it's actually not good to stop eating carbs all together(you need some) just cut down on them
3. Try to get a friend to join the gym with you, someone who's motivated and won't be lazy. That way you will have someone to talk to throughout the process and it will be more enjoyable!
KristinaRoseS2 answered Thursday June 30 2005, 1:07 pm: Yeah Im trying to get in shape also..Try Jumproping for at least 30 min. a day for a week, you`ll see a BIG improovement. Try eating more healthy foods such as appels, cheese, carrots ect. Try not to eat much of the junk food with lots of calories, because trust me thats what puts on the pounds for you. Maybe you can exorcise in your room to music..(I do it hah). Even going to the gym 3 times a week is good for you. Doing situps is also very good for you,it not only balences your weight but it forms yourself a little sixpack and TRUST ME all boys dig chicks with sixpacks..When you find out whats helping you, send me a message because I`d like to know myself ;-D..Hope I helped, and Good Luck! Taylor02 answered Thursday June 30 2005, 12:27 pm: Well if u want to get in shape a couple things you can do is if you don't play any sports join a sport that you like and have fun with but at the same time your losin weight like basketball or tennis. Also just go jogging somtime around your block or somthin. Listen to music while jogging if you can cause it takes your mind off of how much your legs start to hurt. Food wise, whenever you feel like you need a snack grab a apple or banana before you grap the chips or somthin. Well,i hope i helped! Good luck! [ Taylor02's advice column | Ask Taylor02 A Question ]

Mackenzie answered Thursday June 30 2005, 12:24 pm: We'll staRt with the opbvious: exeRcise. Jogging and bicycle Riding will do WONDERS foR you!!! Don't foRget jump Roping. And if you'd like to tone youR ass and thighs, leg lifts aRe just the ticket. And lighting weights [doesn't have to be heavy, even if 3 pounds] will help slim down youR biceps IMMENSLY!! And of couRse the obvious sit ups foR youR tummie.
Also, pRoviding you cut out the EXTREMELY unhealthy foods, such as WHITE bRead [substitute it with wheat], cake pRoducts, ice cReam, hambuRgeRs, and soda... [if you'Re used to consuming A LOT of it] you can see a MAJOR diffeRence the fiRst two weeks, ALONE. My fRiend did it.. and we weRe both shocked to all hell!
As you pRobably alReady know, it's best to eat SEVERAL SMALL poRtions a day. Say, have an apple and a piece of cheese, two houRs lateR have a few cRakeRs, and an houR lateR have one piece of wheat toast, and so on and so foRth, ya know??? Little intakes of food like that givs youR body time to digest it pRopeRly. You see how that's betteR than eating one oR two huge meals a day... because it takes too long to catch up, and it can not buRn the caloRies quick enough, and then just quits, adding body fat.
But of couRse weight loss takes time.... you just have to stay committed, and have the dRive to keep it up. TRy to keep youRself busy... and sleep as often as possible... these things keep youR mind busy and off food. I can't Really say how long it will take; I suppose that diffeRs fRom peRson to peRson. It Really just depends on how much weight you'Re looking to shed. I'd say you could lose 10 to 20 pounds in a month; that's veRy possible.
