Sporkster answered Thursday June 30 2005, 6:38 pm: Yes, quite a few products, actually. There's ProActiv, over-the-counter treatments, and prescription medicines for treating acne. If you're having skin problems, start out using an OTC treatment like Clearasil or Stridex. If those don't work or your condition doesn't improve, try ProActiv. This works for alot of people, but it doesn't work for some. If ProActiv doesn't work for you, go see a dermatologist.
The whole "eating chocolate makes you break out" thing is basically just a myth. I know that a few select people are effected by eating greasy, oily foods, but alot of people aren't.
Exposure to sun can help dry out your skin, but too much can make it worse. Just being outside an hour or two each day in the sun will help your skin's condition improve.
And thinking "dirty thoughts" has absolutely no effect on your skin condition whatsoever.
FunnyCide answered Thursday June 30 2005, 2:25 pm: Some people just react to some foods in different ways. Eating chocolate doesn't bother me, but potato chips make me break out worse. Thinking dirty thoughts give you more acne? I don't think so. Actually, stress causes some pimples though. Tanning does help get rid of them because the sun dries the infection (the pimple) up. Though this wont get rid of all your acne, it does help a little. Some skin care products that have worked for me :
-Avon skin care/scrub (the toner is harsh, but it works.)
-Wal*Mart cleansing pads (these have the same ingredients as the expensive stuff. They work)
-Clean&Clear
-Antibiotics
As for the last one, some doctors will give you a perscription for a generic antibiotic if you have acne. Most of them will reccomend only taking the medicine when you're breaking out really badly. Antibiotics work very well. I'm on an antibiotic now (because of an infection in a cyst..) and I have NO acne. Of course, I still wash my face, but that's habit. If you have acne, ask your doctor (a family practitioner, gynocologist, or pediatrition) for a prescription to a generic antiobiotic for it. Keep washing your face twice daily, use acne medicine (Wal*Mart, Kroger, Target, CVS all have some).

azngemini answered Thursday June 30 2005, 2:17 pm: proactiv works for a lot of people, including me.. lol.. and I think that clearasil ultra might help you out. and also you should think about trying the brand acnefree, especially the spot treatment. skin products dont always work, and when they do work, they dont work for everyone. there isnt a specific product that can help everyone's acne, so clearasil might help other people but it might not help you, and same with proactiv and acnefree.. but I think you should just give them a try anyway
i know that many, many people think that eating a certain kind of food like chocolate or greasy things will give you more pimples, but I kno for a fact that it's totally wrong. doctors and dermatologists say that nothing you eat can affect the number of pimples you get.
and tanning can sometimes help. radiation from the sun will dry out the pimple, but if you go tanning too much, your skin will be sundamaged and it'll look all blotchy and unhealthy. a little tanning might help you, but doing it too much is definately unhealthy.
I really dont think that thinkin dirty thoughts will give someone more zits because if that were true, my face would be full of pimples.. lol..

anniemary answered Thursday June 30 2005, 11:05 am: I work in a pharmacy, and I know that there's a new thing called Freederm out. (It may be UK only though.) Eating excess chocolate/sweets gives you an oil imbalance, but only if you're not getting enough healthy food too, so basically it doesn't make you break out. Tanning in excess is bad too. And no to the dirty thoughts thing. [ anniemary's advice column | Ask anniemary A Question ]
Belladonna answered Thursday June 30 2005, 10:58 am: Cetaphil is good. It's a face wash which doesn't dry out your skin too much, but gets rid of the oil and unclogs the pores.
I found tea tree oil to be very good for getting rid of zits too. You can usually get something called a 'tea tree oil blemish stick' or just look for anything containing it in your chemist. It really works.
If your case is quite extreme, I got this cream called 'Differin' from my Doctor and it's wonderful. It was a little on the pricey side, but it cured my problem within days. It's a proper antibiotics cream.. so I guess you'd only get it if nothing else worked for you and it was getting out of hand.
Napalm350z answered Thursday June 30 2005, 10:54 am: Chocolate makes my acne worse, so yes. I don't know about tanning. There isn't an explanation for that one. Stridex and Neutogena both make cleansing pads and they work well. Neutrogena is harsh though, burns my eyes... [ Napalm350z's advice column | Ask Napalm350z A Question ]
xxurockxx answered Thursday June 30 2005, 10:27 am: yes, eating chocolate or greasy foods makes you break out.
tanning does help get rid of them but it doesnt TOTALLY work and it is very bad for your skin. when you get older you run the risk of getting skin cancer and wrinkley skin if you tan too much.
ive never heard anything about the thinking dirty thoughts thing
you will most likely break out when you are about to start your period or are on it.
go to the dermatologist and get some differn...it works [ xxurockxx's advice column | Ask xxurockxx A Question ]
*****Those aRe the pRoducts I use PERSONALLY, and I have gReat complexion, and saw fast, fast, fast, Results!!
"Does chocolate give you acne?
Research has shown that for the majority of people, pigging out on chocolate won't result in a single extra pimple. It might have an impact on your diet, but not the condition of your skin."

And tanning DOES get Rid of acne, because of the heat involved.. it dRies them out, minimalizing them until they'Re nothing.
And the whole thinking diRty thoughts thing is a TOTAL line; don't fall foR it.
