homemade pancakes

Question Posted Tuesday June 21 2005, 12:26 am

I used to be in this cooking class and they gave me a sheet on how to make pancakes. I lost that sheet and now I'm craving pancakes at 11:30 p.m...strange, huh? well, i was wondering if anyone knew the recipe..?? I know ya'll will say "google it" but i did and every recipe had baking powder..we don't have that right now..so does any one know a recipe that excludes baking powder? also, can anyone tell me how to cook it also?..THANK YOU!

You don't need baking powder in pancakes. Just follow a recipe and don't use baking powder. Simple.

hah I crave pancakes really late at night too, recipe I use is this:

1 med/large egg
4 ounces plain flour
1/2 pint of milk
lil bit 'o' butter

Mix the egg with the flour, then add the milk... mix... until all the mups you can get out or out...
Then heat the pan put the butter in to make it buttery... then pour the batter on... should be able to make 3 :)
Give it a go! xx<3xx

You dont need baking powder to make pancakes english style- its really simple, you just need to make a batter.

you will need:

1 egg
2 oz plain flour
about half a pint of milk

mix it well together, you can add more flour or milk as neccessary to make it consistent and not lumpy (but not too runny)

Heat your frying pan and add a a knob of butter. Once the butter has melted pour in the batter so that it evenly covers the pan but is less than 1/2 cm thick.

As it cooks, use a spatula to gently loosen the sides. Once they are starting to loosen gently shake the pan so the pancake moves freely. You are now ready to toss it.

If you cant toss it then put a plate over the top and flip the pan so its on the plate. Then slide it back in the pan on the other side till golden brown.

Serve with sugar and squeezed lemon!

xx

Try this one: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Heaps more here if you don't like the first one: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Hint: to search for a pancake recipe that doesn't require baking powder, you could search <b>"pancake recipe" -"baking powder"</b>. The "-" sign will take out all the pages with the phrase "baking powder".
