smoking
My sister has been smoking for over 6 months. She's only 16. I live with my mom and my sister so out of us three I'm the only one who doesn't smoke. I hate second hand smoke and how they don't even care enough to smoke outside. I've asked them numerous times to smoke somewhere else but they tell me to deal with it. My other sister who is 27 comes over with her boyfriend and they also smoke. My brother and I are the only ones who don't smoke but he doesn't even live here. I get so mad and my sister and I get into fights over this. What should I do? They don't think I have any right to be mad or anything and it's just not fair.

Go out and buy a 10 inch subwoofer. Put it in your room. Crank that bitch up alllll the way. Shake the damn house. And when they tell you to turn it down, just say "ill be glad to if you keep your cigarettes outside." and if they dont... then at the moment still turn it off. But then at 3:30 in the damn morning, turn that mother allll the way up... and keep doing it. It will eventually get to them :-)

You are completely right. Make sure that they know that second hand smoke can give you cancer, and that they could be killing you. Find some pamphelts or something to print out of the internet to back yourself up. If they want to smoke, it is really gross and bad for them, but it's up to them. However, smoking inside where you live is horrible! I hope they listen to you!

you should threaten your sister by telling her that you will call the cops if she doesnt start smoking outside and maybe she will stop, if she doesnt then go ahead and notify the police and they will make her stop smoking

well they should consider(sp) you. and that you dont like smoking. well the best thing i can think of is to tell someone like your brother that doesnt live with you, and have him talk to them. or he might let you live with him until your mom and sister get the point. or you can stay outside all day and at night go inside to sleep

okay my mom had a freind who died of lung cancer from smoking a way to get them to stop is to buy them some of those pills that help you quit reall easy i think they are at walgreens if that doesnt help there are little patches that you can buy and you stick it on the middle of the arm and tell them that it helps you to not smoke and also tell them that they cant smoke at all and see what it does

you could like go live wiht your brother or runaway and show them how mad you are and they should care and it might change ther minds if you run cuz everymother loves her child

I'd definitly talk to a counceler, or your mom's best friend. They are not only putting themselves in danger, but you're in danger with all that second-hand smoke too. So, have you, your mom, her best friend, and your sister sit down and talk about this. If it doesn't work go to you doctor, neighbor, counceler, or any other trusted adult. You have every right to be mad, because they're putting you in danger and you're not even the one smoking.

You're right it is not fair, but I don't think there is anything you can do about it in this country. In europe they are trying to ban it in homes that have kids, but who knows. All I can say is that I grew up with second hand smoke, and I was sick all the time. And that was long before we all knew that it was bad for your health. My mom still smokes, and she would not have stopped just because someone told her it was bad for her kids.
I hope you have your own room. Maybe you can get an air filter/purifyer for you room. I know that I left home at 18 and never went back. So you may just have to plan on leaving as soon as you can. Work hard in school so you can get a good job. Go away to college, live on campus, you can request a non smoking room mate.SPend as much time away from home as possible. I think it is really awful that your family won't consider your wishes in this matter. This is why smoking is banned in bars and restaurants, because the employees have to way to avoid it, they get sick, get lung cancer file lawsuits, the employer has to pay the bill, so that was incentive to make it agains the law.
Maybe you should consider a law suite against your family. After all , all the proof is out there. cigaretts cause cancer, heart disease, and many other illnesses. And second had smoke is just as bad.
