I babysit every Sunday for 3 kids. 2 girls ages 5 and 7, and one boy who is 9. I bring coloring books and board games, but after a while we just run out of stuff to do!!! These kids get bored easily, and everything I own that they would like, they have used. After a while, I become bored and very tired, and so every week i am reluctant to go. What should I do, and quitting is NOT an option!
brittany_x31 answered Friday May 27 2005, 11:46 pm: what most babysitters do is when you get sick of the kid you send them for a 2 hour nap while they are taking a nap you can sit on the couch and relax do that every day and start using that as a rutine if the kids start to wine either give them a little spanking and say it's time for a nap or put a movie inside the tv and let the kids sit down and watch it when there parents come to get them tell there parents to bring some of there bored games and use that as one of the rutines if they get sick of your game i am prtty sure they have some bord game at home or somthing they can bring to play with

ladyvalick answered Saturday May 14 2005, 6:07 pm: what everyone else said....and maybe you could have them make up a game, plan it, set it up, and then you could all play something they created together. [ ladyvalick's advice column | Ask ladyvalick A Question ]
danceonme answered Saturday May 14 2005, 6:00 pm: Create a scavenger hunt. Bring a movie for them to watch. While they're watching, go around their house and find random objects they're familiar with. Leave a note with a really easy hint on it for them to find the next object. Have it lead to the freezer containing 3 bowls of ice cream.
Or ask them to come up with a story, have them act out a well known kids book, take pictures on a digital camera (so you can delete them later), or play music and come up with dance moves. There's a ton of stuff to do with kids.
Princess Ball answered Saturday May 14 2005, 5:36 pm: Hey thats really cool, because i babysit too, but not every sundays like you i do other days. The kids i babysit arent my parents, they are other peoples in my neighborhood. my advice to you is that if you have bikes you can go bike riding, have them watch a movie, if there is a park around take them to a park. Also you can bake with extrem carefull watchful eyes over them, you can play made up games like freeze tag. If you drive you can take them for a movie, a friends house. There lots of things as long as their having fun. [ Princess Ball's advice column | Ask Princess Ball A Question ]

If your mother has some old make-up, I babysat some kids who got a kick out of giving me a make-over. Sure, they didn't do a good job, but they had fun with it. That's what matters.
Another fun thing to do, is maybe bring some ingredients and bake cookies with the kids. I don't really know what the kids are into, and it's much harder since you said you're babysitting a boy as well.
If the kids have a computer, bring some games you have lying around for them.
Play hide and seek. I used to be able to play that for hours when I was a kid. Play tag. I'm not sure... like, if you had a game you played with friends at recess when you were a kid, that's a really good idea. It's also fun to make a board game with the kids. They might enjoy that too.
gakkuhideto answered Saturday May 14 2005, 4:10 pm: Try sidewalk chalk, balls, and frisbees. Lots of outdoor stuff! Four Square is an excellent outdoor game. And maybe you could bring them to a playground or a public pool or something? For rainy days, bring movies or get them involved in using their imaginations! Like playing jungle or dragons and knights, something like that. Building forts out of pillows is great, but I'm not sure if the nine-year-old would get into it, it seems like something for really little kids. I could be wrong though, I can't really remember what I liked when I was nine. [ gakkuhideto's advice column | Ask gakkuhideto A Question ]
2cute102 answered Saturday May 14 2005, 3:50 pm: Hey! Don't give up hope! i babysit all the time. If you can, take them to the park and take them to a park. Maybe take them out for ice cream or just hang outside. It gets them out of the house and it gives you a break from being bored! [ 2cute102's advice column | Ask 2cute102 A Question ]
