I actually have done the exact same thing with a bird that my neighbors (awful) were swinging around by a swing. They had tied string to it's leg! Anyway, sorry for the interuption. Call the vet, and ask them what to do. I did that. We gave the bird to a helping animal center, recommended by the vet!

You never should have taken the bird. You should seriously let nature do it's thing. How do you know the bird hurt it's wing?
Anyway, I would take it back where you found it. Perhaps, if there is a nest close enough, set it back in the nest.
Next time you see a wild animal that you think needs help, then call animal control or any wildlife rescue thingy around your area. They are much better suited to help out any wild animals. [ selectopaque's advice column | Ask selectopaque A Question ]
mapetiteodette answered Saturday May 7 2005, 10:13 am: Let its mum come feed it in the rabbit run. It will be the best thing for the baby bird, because it will prevent the mother from rejecting the baby. Keep the baby blackbird in the run until its wing is fully healed. If you let it go too soon, the cats will definitely get it. Letting it go later after it's ready is better than letting it go before it's ready.
