i skipped all of my workout classes for the past month cause i've been sick. yesterday i came back, worked out SO hard, now my muscles are so sore that i could hardly get out of the bed. i want to know what is the best thing to do (esp. for my legs, they hurt so bad)...
a) rest for the next couple days and do nothing until they feel better
b) keep working the muscles, continue running and conditioning today
c) stretch them?... or what, i dunno.
only answer if you know what youre talking about. thanks
TheUsedRock92 answered Monday April 18 2005, 8:12 pm: i like to push myself so i would keep working them even if they were sore as heck but i think the good thing to do is to rest for a while and everyday stretch a little at a time and then started working out again but a little bit at a time. hope i helped. good luck. before you do any workouts make sure your stretched out well..your gonnna pull a muscle if you dont stretch them out..the reason that they are so sore is because they havent been active like before..dont be worried the pain will go away once you get back to your regular workout schedule -- r a t e * m e -- xOx [ LiLJaZzY's advice column | Ask LiLJaZzY A Question ]
Tinkerbelle answered Sunday April 17 2005, 2:48 pm: Keep working the muscles! It'll hurt like heck, but you need to. Your muscles will hurt for about a week or so, but after that it'll stop, and if you kept working out the whole time it shouldn't happen again. Poppsie answered Sunday April 17 2005, 2:07 pm: I think you should rest your legs becuase it looks like you have worked them to hard. If you put any more strain on them you will probally pull a muscle which i bet you dont want. Take it easily and only get back to your workout classes once your legs are back to normal so that you dont pull a muscle. Hope you listen to my advice. luv2swim109 answered Sunday April 17 2005, 12:19 pm: take some pain releiver(sp) and dont use those muscules. the worst thing you could do is strain them. just rest for a while. over time your mustles will be back to normal doing your regular workout. good luck
stalkingroxy911 answered Sunday April 17 2005, 12:12 pm: stretch your muscles really well and you can also go and sit in a jucuzzi or spa for about 20 minutes and that will help your muscels relax and feel better
SouthernGirl323 answered Sunday April 17 2005, 11:50 am: you should continue to work out...but try a muscle soothing cream. i suggest icy hot. it helps relax your muscles and give you the ability to continue working out. if you work out one day, and then don't for a while because your muscles are too sore, then that's not helping you any. hope i helped :) [ SouthernGirl323's advice column | Ask SouthernGirl323 A Question ]
therocketsummer answered Sunday April 17 2005, 11:30 am: As you obviously know, your muscles are sore because you haven't worked out in so long. Your muscles have gotten used to not having to work expect the usual get up in the morning. The best idea is going to be to keep working them, but not as hard. You need to keep working them so they get the swing of things again. You basically have to train your body to remember what it feels like to work out again. Once your body remembers your muscles will get less sore. Even when I work out my muscles still hurt, especially when I do a new work out that works new parts of my body. Take some advil or motrin to relieve the pain.
