No, the type doesn't matter at all. You shouldn't keep your tampon in for more than 6 hours, it will lead to TSS. To be safe, you should change it every 5 hours or so, don't even let it go a little over 6 hours and wear a pad to bed, so you don't go into a deep sleep with it and basically have no other choice, otherwise you'd have to get up every 6 hours to change it- which is very diffucult. Hope I've Helped! ♥

Ok, don't listen to what people say about wearing a tampon for only 2 hours, that totally not true. Wearing a heavy absorbancy tampon for a long time would mean higher risk of TSS, but don't worry about TSS. You CAN sleep with a tampon in, but only if you are sleeping less than 8 hours. The instructions in the tampon box suggest changing your tampon every 6 hours max, and abide by those rules, and you will never have to worry about TSS. Most girls who experience TSS have left their tampon in for more then 10 hours, so don't fret about TSS.

Here's how you it goes with tampons. All the tampons are the same as far as TSS go, and so you are pretty safe with any kind you choose. If you are trying to figure out which kind is better for you then you should try to fiure out what is more comfortable and easy fro you to wear and put in. But no matter what kind you pick you cannot wear it for more then about 2-4 hours (I don't recommend longer) and you should never sleep in a tampon because that will most likely cause you to go into TSS. You could wake up and feel dizzy, uncomfortable, and you may not be able to see (and yea it happens). I would suggest weraing the kind that you feel is best for your body and not worry about the TSS unless you aren't following the directions.

The higher the absorbency of the tampon, the higher the risk of getting Toxic Shock Syndrome. You should always use the least amount of absorbency possible when you are on your period. I reccomend getting a box of assorted tampons. They usually include light, regular and super. That way, you can have an assortment to choose from depending on how heavy your flow is.

Superabsorbant tampons increase chances of TSS.
Believe it or not most cases of TSS in women who use tampons is because they forget to take that last one out. I've heard it recommended that you change them at least every 8 hrs. So, you can sleep with one in just remember to remove it in the morning!

Yes, the stronger or bigger a tampon you use, the more likely you will get TSS. But, using tampons altogether, even ordinary pads too, is unhealthy.

Rather than using normal pads (if you do), use flannel pads. You can either order them from www.PandoraPads.com or make them. Normal pads hold in too much heat and bacteria, upping the likelihood of yeast infection. Also, they have bleach. That's bad both for you and the environment. Rather than using tampons, you can either use The Keeper, a soft rubber cup that lasts for years, or sea sponges. Sea sponges are very comfortable and healthy as long as you take good care of them. Tampons are made of bleached rayon. The rayon causes little cuts in your vagina and the bleach gets into the cuts. Sea sponges, if they are clean (they need to be boiled for a half hour right after you buy them, before you use them), are very safe, healthy, and great for the enviornment (they are reusable, but disintegrate after about a year). You can buy them at arts & crafts stores.

Just use what you need and you should be ok. like if you have a light flow dont wear a super plus tampon...it says something similar to that on the paper thing that comes in the box...you may want to read that.

No I do not believe so. You might want to check out ♥ [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) ♥ it should be on a article on there. If not they have a professional advice giver on there and she gives advice free like on here but her advice would be more acurate.

The type of tampon you use won't make you more likely to get Toxic Shock Syndrome but it does in a way. There is a rare chance that you'll get it. If you read the box of tampons, it will tell you about Toxic Shock Syndrome. You only get TSS if you wear the wrong type of tampon when you shouldn't and when you wear tampons when you aren't on your period but if you do that, you won't get TSS because it takes time.
