Rather than using normal pads, use flannel pads. You can either order them from www.PandoraPads.com or make them. Normal pads hold in too much heat and bacteria, upping the likelihood of yeast infection. Also, they have bleach. That's bad both for you and the environment. Rather than using tampons, you can either use The Keeper, a soft rubber cup that lasts for years, or sea sponges. Sea sponges are very comfortable and healthy as long as you take good care of them. Tampons are made of bleached rayon. The rayon causes little cuts in your vagina and the bleach gets into the cuts. Sea sponges, if they are clean (they need to be boiled for a half hour right after you buy them, before you use them), are very safe, healthy, and great for the enviornment (they are reusable, but disintegrate after about a year). You can buy them at arts & crafts stores.
COWMOOOOOOOOoinkPIG answered Friday April 8 2005, 9:04 pm: That girl probably had tss which is rare. You should be on the safe side if you change your tampon regularly, but dont always wait until its full change it when your supposed to because my mom got an infection because of that. Ok I'll go through your questions. Do they hurt? No not at all. After you used one are you classed as a non-virgin? No you are still definately a virgin. Do they tickle? No they dont. What are they like? That one I'm not sure how to answer Because I dont really know what your asking. Hope this has helped. [ COWMOOOOOOOOoinkPIG's advice column | Ask COWMOOOOOOOOoinkPIG A Question ]

Kels answered Friday April 8 2005, 5:24 pm: no, you do not lose your virginity. they dont hurt if they are in proberly. you have to realx when you insert them, and make sure that they are in all of the way. also, if you buy the TAMPAX brand, they come with instructions. also, they have a "starter pack" out with slim tampons, and instructions and some pads! you can get it at walmart or something.
the thing with getting sick is= a long time ago, they had these tampons that would last for like 2days, so you wouldnt have to change it. thats alot considering that you should only wear one for 6-8 hours. there is a risk of TSS uh, i forgot the t, but the rest is shock syndrom. it killed two girls, when they had in the 2day tampons. they do not make those anymore. so dont worry! just change them every 6-8 hours, and they will usually be full by then anyways. also use the correct absorbancy for your amount of blood flow!

EJ47 answered Friday April 8 2005, 4:20 pm: Tampons can hurt, but not that much. After the first few uses you'll... stretch out, and be more used to them. A virgin is someone who has never had sexual intercourse, plus the tampon is not a penis, so no, you're still a virgin ^^
Tampons probably tickle alot, because like the male penis, the females genital area is just /covered/ in the pleasure nerve endings, hence all the reaction during masturbation/sex.
You wont fall into a coma unless you leave them in for months on end of something :P
Teza answered Friday April 8 2005, 4:03 pm: Dont worry you wont go into coma! Well when you first use a tampon it will feel kind of weird because its your first time but it doesnt hurt. And no you will still be a virgn and they might tickle a little bit it depends on the tampon. They are acually more comftrable then pads. x0 [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]

craazylau answered Friday April 8 2005, 12:15 pm: Toxic shock syndrome which is what this girl suffered from is really really rare but it is a possibility that you can get it from using tampons IF they stay inside your body for a very long time. Therefore if you make sure you follow the instructions the risks are tiny- if tampons were dangerous they wouldnt be allowed to sell them. You just have to make sure you change them ATLEAST once every 8 hours. They don't hurt when you use them and you definitely do not lose your virginity if you use them! They're a bit tricky to start with but if you use the ones with an applicator and follow the instructions inside once you get the hang of it you'll wonder how you ever coped without them! good luck [ craazylau's advice column | Ask craazylau A Question ]
OneBeautifulMidnightSky answered Friday April 8 2005, 12:12 pm: Well, you can get TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) but it's very rare. It has information about that in the tampon box. Tampons only hurt when they have'nt fully absorbed yet inside of you. Tampons don't make you a "Non-Virgin". I guess if you put one in the wrong way or something it could tickle or be uncomfortable. Hope I helped! [ OneBeautifulMidnightSky's advice column | Ask OneBeautifulMidnightSky A Question ]
mrs_radcliffe answered Friday April 8 2005, 12:07 pm: It hurt when i tryed! But you have to read the unstructions, Just relax and you will be fine, if you feel more comfortable wearing pads just keep to them. Your still classed as a virgin. Tickle nope not at all. Mine didnt work for me at all and it was so uncomfortable.
SaraEliKirk answered Friday April 8 2005, 11:15 am: Ok well im not exactly the expert on this but from what ive read i will answer it like this: The only unsafe thing is called Toxic Shock Syndrome, ive never really heard of anyone having that, but thats from leaving it in too long, always use the smallest one possible and change every 3-4 hours depending. YES, you are still a virgin, its nothing exciting i promise lol but it makes being girl a little bit more easier to deal with!
