I have a ferret. He is so cute and I love him to bits. He's about 10 months old now, but all he likes to eat is his ferret food! He won't eat chicken or anything else! Should he be eating a more varied diet, other than his ferret food? If so, how do I get him to accept new foods?

They are carnivores, all they require is high amounts of meat-protein and fats. Don't feed him "anything else" in large quantities if it isn't meat. Ferrets have a sensitive digestive system so be careful (you can look up ferret diet info online).
If you are worried that your ferret isn't getting enough ferrety nutrition, you should just gradually switch to a better quality ferretfood.
Ferrets determine their food preferences during the first six months of life. Most likely your ferret won't want to accept new foods. But you can still try, feed it in gradually even if he doesn't eat it (he'll be getting used to the smell). [ honu22's advice column | Ask honu22 A Question ]
PsycoSkitz21 answered Sunday April 10 2005, 2:25 pm: put chicken in his ferret food. I used to have a white ferret named marshmallow, and she didn't like much other than her ferret food either. We hid it in her food, and at first, she just didn't eat, so we switched back to her regular ferret food. It might be different for yours. If he doesn't accept the food you hid, don't feed it to him. You do want him to eat!!! If you're worried about nutritions he needs. Then visit your local pet store, and find out what you can do! [ PsycoSkitz21's advice column | Ask PsycoSkitz21 A Question ]

It's alright if he doesn't want to eat the chicken or other things. Ferret food is healthy, so you might want to stick to that. Don't push him into eating other foods when he doesn't want to, but every once in a while, offer him chicken, etc.
