very normal. Dude, I'll like walk down my hallway and it will be really dark or sometimes I'll be walking down the road and then I like flip out inside because I imagine a guy jumping out and grabbing me or trying to rape me. *pause* haha.. so yeah it's compleltely normal.

sounds like ocd.

obsessive compulsive disorder

those uncontrollable unwanted thoughts...it really sucks. have you developed any rituals? do you play little games with yourself?

they say it can be controlled by medication--but i think more can be done by sheer will. you just have to change the way you think--or find some way to relieve your anxiety that brings these unwanted thoughts into your head.

you need to get reprogrammed...lots of people get help from a professional...but i think alot can be done on your own ...read up on ocd...take the test online to see if you share the same characteristics.

sometimes just being able to name something...makes you feel better about it...they are soooo many people walking around with ocd and they dont even know it.

it can take on many forms...hand washing counting obsessive thoughts--touching items---repeating words...its endless...read up on it...if not just to rule it out as a possibility.

take care
louise

I used to do this a lot when I was in my teens, and I still occasionally have such thoughts about ten years later. You are probably experiencing some form of anxiety, which is normal (many people experience anxiety) but can and probably should be fixed.

I would recommend going to see the school counselor if you are still in school, or a doctor if you are not. Most likely, they can tell you what is going on and point you in the right direction.

that probably means that you are a little insecure (no offense intended!!!) if i were you, i'd talk to your parents about it, and if they think it would be good for you, go to a therapist. i know that may seem embarrasing, but as long as you dont tell your friends, no one but your parents will ever have yo know!!! i really hope i helped!

Lots of people have these thoughts all the time; they usually just don't express them. It's so natural that it's almost scary. Death is the 2nd biggest fear of Americans (The 1st being public speaking - amazing, some people would rather die than give a speech!) so it's only normal that it can sometimes control your thoughts.

Karen answered Sunday March 27 2005, 1:03 pm:
Yes, this is normal. Everyone thinks about ways of dying because it's something that everyone has to face eventually. Don't worry, you aren't the only one who thinks about this. Just try to not let this get to you because it will just stay in your mind at all times and you don't want that to happen.
