Alright, this is a stupid question, but today I purchased a D.A.R.E. shirt at Hot Topic. Under it, it reads "To Keep Kids Off Drugs." Does this have deeper meaning? Because on the standard D.A.R.E. shirts (like the official ones) they read "To Resist Drugs And Violence." I was wondering if "To Keep Kids Off Drugs" has any deeper meaning? I don't want to go to school with people laughing or something. Thanks.

So wear it in good health! [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

I don't know the meaning behind the t-shirt, but it's harmless.
One meaning can be literal, implying that the D.A.R.E program helps keep kids of drugs.
OR
Another meaning can be more sarcastic, implying that D.A.R.E doesn't work worth crap. Kinda like "Dare to keep kids off drugs? Good luck with that!" [ mylinhthan's advice column | Ask mylinhthan A Question ]
_eMiLy answered Saturday March 26 2005, 11:37 am: I'm pretty sure D.A.R.E is a programme to teach kids the consecuenses of drugs. It stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. No one will laugh at you for wearing it so don't worry about it.

xxxxxx answered Saturday March 26 2005, 9:55 am: It COULD mean "Dare to keep kids off drugs" which would kind of mean something different than the official shirt. I could be wrong, but take that into consideration I guess? [ xxxxxx's advice column | Ask xxxxxx A Question ]

spacefem answered Saturday March 26 2005, 8:36 am: DARE changed their slogan sometime to the "resist drugs and violence" ones, because they wanted to put more emphasis on resisting violence. When I was in school and took DARE, all the shirts said "To Keep Kids Off Drugs". [ spacefem's advice column | Ask spacefem A Question ]

lillegend222 answered Saturday March 26 2005, 8:09 am: D.A.R.E is a program to teach kids about the consequences of drugs. (It stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education) It's all okay. It's a good program and nobody will laugh. In elementary school we did an entire D.A.R.E course. It's an awesome program. Wear the shirt, it's cool! Lol, see ya! :-) [ lillegend222's advice column | Ask lillegend222 A Question ]
