Just recently, my family purchased a computer mouse that was the laser optical type.
I've only used the rolling ball type, so this is all new to me.
But every 5-7 minutes or so, my arrow on the screen with jump toards the side bottoms. Is this normal for this type of mouse? If not, what can i do to stop the skipping around. I'm not even pressing remotely in the way it randomly jumps.
Try using a mousepad with no design on it, or placing a piece of white paper underneath the mouse. The design on some desks play heck with the sensor in an optical mouse.
If it still does it with the pad or paper, take the mouse back and get a completely different brand. My opinion.

Ask someone who knows computers a lot and see what the problem is. You could've gotten a rouge mouse or something is wrong with the wiring. Either way you need to get that checked out!

EJ47 answered Saturday March 19 2005, 2:15 pm: I had issues with that too when I switched to optical mice. It just means the driver is being weird, so just uninstall it and then re install it. Bada boom ^^ IF that doesnt work, call the peopl who make it. <3 EJ [ EJ47's advice column | Ask EJ47 A Question ]

shake answered Saturday March 19 2005, 12:42 am: No. Your mouse sucks. Its also not a "laser optical" mouse. Laser and optical mouses are two very different things. I recommend a laser though. [ shake's advice column | Ask shake A Question ]
