Laser Mouse

Question Posted Friday March 18 2005, 11:52 pm

Just recently, my family purchased a computer mouse that was the laser optical type.

I've only used the rolling ball type, so this is all new to me.

But every 5-7 minutes or so, my arrow on the screen with jump toards the side bottoms. Is this normal for this type of mouse? If not, what can i do to stop the skipping around. I'm not even pressing remotely in the way it randomly jumps.

I have had a similar problem. With me it was a microsoft optical mouse.

Try using a mousepad with no design on it, or placing a piece of white paper underneath the mouse. The design on some desks play heck with the sensor in an optical mouse.

If it still does it with the pad or paper, take the mouse back and get a completely different brand. My opinion.

Let us know what happens,

What colour is your desk? If it's dark then put a piece of white paper under your mouse...

Ok, I use the ball type also, but with my cousin that happened also. Random jumping is like not normal. Ask someone who knows computers a lot and see what the problem is. You could've gotten a rouge mouse or something is wrong with the wiring. Either way you need to get that checked out!

I had issues with that too when I switched to optical mice. It just means the driver is being weird, so just uninstall it and then re install it. Bada boom ^^ IF that doesnt work, call the peopl who make it. <3 EJ

THis is normal...just make sure you only have one finger on the mouse. I had one of those, but I got rid of it because it got too annoying.

No. Your mouse sucks. Its also not a "laser optical" mouse. Laser and optical mouses are two very different things. I recommend a laser though.
