I live in Utah and I expect everyone to have big opinions on my religion because it is different. My boyfriend is LDS (morman) and I am Lutheran. We have breifly dicussed if we were to get married, where would it be at. He wants a temple wedding and I want my chruch wedding. There is no way I would convert. But we seem to argue about this a lot. I am scared I might lose him because of this. How can I settle it without losing him?
I'll give you the short version: If he marries you and you will not convert to LDS, he will have to leave the church.
Do you know if he has his temple reccomendation and all that? In other words, is he wearing the sacred undies? If so, you would really be endangering him to insist on this.
My family were mormon until my father was told the first blood oath of the church, which he would have to take in order to proceed.
You have absolutely no idea what you are involved in.
If you really want the whole information, e-mail me an address to send a video file to.

I mean, what's wrong with getting married and not having the same religion. Maybe you could opt for a beach wedding or not in a church or temple so neither feels left out, and have his priest, or whoever, come along with yours to marry you two. I've seen so many Jewish/Catholic weddings like that. [ xOtWiXi's advice column | Ask xOtWiXi A Question ]
harpist4u answered Saturday March 19 2005, 12:51 pm: I play in weddings (my harp). Some people have 2 weddings to make both sides happy. YOu should have both keep the cost down on both and have one recoetion. The weddings do not have to be on the same day just a day or so apart. I have played in 2 weddings for the same person before...(catholic and baptist). It allows everyone to be happy. If I were that is what I would do at least. BooBoo2007 answered Monday March 14 2005, 6:26 pm: If you do get married, have an outdoor wedding, on a beautiful spring day...I'm not sure who should marry the two of you. But outside is romantic, like in a field or on the beach. And if you have children, let them chose their religion. For now, just say it's the religion you were raised with, and you feel you can't convert. Good Luck, Much Love!!!
wAnTiNgHiM4EvEr answered Monday March 14 2005, 4:16 pm: well like in jewish/ christian weddings, the rabbi can come to the church, or the priest can go to the temple. Maybe the preacher from your church could go to his temple..?
kleokriesel answered Monday March 14 2005, 4:14 pm: You two need to discuss your core beliefs, such as God's nature and if people are inherently good. Once you find what core beliefs you share, build on those. You may find that you have more in common than you think. You two will see what's more important and both of you should probably be able to compromise. [ kleokriesel's advice column | Ask kleokriesel A Question ]
