Where should I work?

Question Posted Sunday February 27 2005, 4:30 am

Hey. I'm a cashier at a store thats like Linens and Things. Its my first job (i'm sixteen) and I've realized that its not the kind of job I want. I don't like the fact that its a big place and its busy allll the time. I enjoy interacting with my co workers. At my place, I feel like I can't do that. We're all busy helping out the customers, which is good... but I feel like I don't know the people I work with well. What are some good places to work at, where you're working...but you still have opportunities to get to know your co-workers? Preferably not a fast food restaraunt, a grocery store, or big places. I want something small and fun. I was thinking about working at a tanning salon?? Does anyone have any good ideas?

I work at a tanning salon, Tanning Bed (im in new york) its great! Its not hard work at all. If you work at a large chain that has several beds your going to need to learn how to use a computer program and learn what lotions do and such. You can talk more with people at a tanning salon because its not exactly busy all the time, you still have to help some people tho. If you want more info about what its like to work at a tanning salon, drop one in my inbox.

OK well many of my ideas were already taken but I would suggest thinking of a small store that you like because employees usually get discounts, right? So personally, I would look into Claires because then you can get discounts on their stuff.

The tanning salon is a great idea. Try working in a small store in your mall. That way you can know your co-workers better and still get a good pay. So I think these two ideas are the best for you. I hope I helped! ♥ good luck

I think working at a tanning salon would be great. If you really want to work there, then go for it. If not go to a local mall or something and trying looking into a job at Jcpennys or Sears or someplace like that. Hope my advice helps! ♥ Jenn

You could work at clothing stores such as American Eagle, Hollister, Aeropostale, and so on. You can get to know your co-workers while you work at these types of stores. Working at a tanning salon is a good idea. You can also work at a pizza resturant, it's not a fast food resturant if you think about it. It's all up to you; try getting applications from stores that you think would be a good place to work at and you can then decide on which store that you want to work at.

Before you decide to get a new job, go job hunting. Try wroking as like an assistant for someone, because they would take in more money.

Well a fun little places to work can be like small stores in the mall. Such as Aripostle, American Eagle, Hot Topic, PacSun, ColdStone creamery (that'd be a fun place to work to) you can work in Claire's/Icing (not too packed, and a very small place)
Hope you actually know what some of those places are. I guess it all depends where you live. Sorry if I'm not helpful, but I hope I was!

dear work trouble,

it all depends, why are you working? are you working to get money? or just to burn some spare time? think about it. once you start working, you're going to be working for the rest of your life. do you erally want that?
some job ideas could be what you're interested in. try finding somewhere that has a good pay. or you could find somewhere where you could take your advantages! such as an ice cream or pizza store... think about it! free ice cream! free pizza! YUM. its all up to you and your interests.
