ok so i was making cookies, then i discovered that we had no butter. can you substitute oil for butter? if you can how much oil for 1 stick [1/2 cup] of butter?
thanks
MummuM answered Saturday February 26 2005, 2:36 pm: Nope. You cannot add oil to your cookies insted of butter. If you have the butter in the blocks, or margarine, you can use that for butter, but not oil. Since you can't really do something about this, maybe go to the store and get some butter. It would be your best bet.

It's different if you were frying something but when it comes to making cookies, oil does not work. Try asking your mom to run to your local grocery store and buy a stick of butter or margarine.

duzzie19 answered Saturday February 26 2005, 2:29 pm: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! you cannot! it is DEFINATELY worth taking a quick trip to the grocers and stocking up on some butter...your cookies will be very distasteful if you use oil instead of butter...plus, butter is what makes cookies taste so good...best of luck!
