I want to try out for my highschools cheerleading squad.. Ive cheered b4 but i heard that high school tryout are harder. if u tried out for you high schools cheerleading squad, what did you have to do?
Dance: Make sure that your motions are really sharp. so sharp that your arms hurt. Count in you head so that you dont get off count
Jumps: stretch alot a while b4 your try-outs, so that your legs are at the most flexability point. POINT YOUR TOES and land on your toes! the judges will look for the small things as well as the big things.
*I found out for jumps like the toe touch, look at high up and stare at that point this will make your jumps look higher.*
Cheer: Again, make sure that your motions are tight. BE LOUD. Some coaches want their girls to yell in a deep voice and other coaches want you to sound like a girl, so try to find out how they want you to sound like.
Tumbling: If your school has any tumbling requirements, make sure that when you o tumble it isnt sloppy looking.
Stunting: if your basing, keep your back straight. flying keep everything locked legs, squeeze your butt, dont look down look straight out.
-SMILE-make it look like you are having fun
-make sure you have your hair up at try-outs
-No Jewerly
-SMILE-make it look like you having fun
-be polite
-coaces aren't ony loking or great cheerleaders but also for cheerleaders that can get better

sarah0308 answered Monday February 21 2005, 9:38 pm: ive never tried out but last year in middle school you had to go to like a 2-3 day camp and they would seperate you into groups and they would teach each group a dance and then the last day of the camp you would have to perform the dance with your group and they would judge you on that. but that was for middle school, im not sure about high school. and ive never tried out for cheerleading!

brittanysays answered Sunday February 20 2005, 8:38 pm: I haven't tried out yet, but I did a little research! On most squads tumbling is either mandatory or really good for your score. You have to do a leat one dance, chant, and cheer. On some squads you have to take a cheerleading safety quiz. check out www.about.cheerleading.com
Hope I helped! [ brittanysays's advice column | Ask brittanysays A Question ]

They maek the tryouts like so formal and like they have lots of rules, but its only like 3 minutes or cheer, dance, maybe a chant, and osme tumbling and your good. Tipically, they will hold a clinic teaching you a dance, cheer or something and you will perform it at tryouts. When you try out be really enthusiastic and practice your sequences at home! BE SHARP! good luck! [ sshelbyy's advice column | Ask sshelbyy A Question ]

Then the 3rd day of tryouts you go up infrontof the coaches by yourself and do the best gymnastics and jumps((toetouch etc.)) you can.. then you go up in gorups of 5 and do your chant a few times for the coaches. then the 4th day you do your dance and the cheer in groups of 3 of so infront of your coaches, then on the 5th day u go in one by one and hear if you made it. Thats how our school works anyway, i dont know if other schools do it differently.. Be perky, dont wear a lot of make up it takes the coaches eyes away from your skill, do the best you can.. Good Luck!
