MID-TERM

Question Posted Monday January 24 2005, 10:47 pm

OK-- I have a few midterms coming up. I already did one (English) and that's out of the way. I'll specifically focus on SS- since that's the next one to come up. Well, Im really nervous on how my grade will turn out on my Midterm. What are good study tips that will help me be prepared? What are ways to make myself crack down and actually study?? How can I make myself go in feeling confident?? There is a website that the teacher made with several 'midterm' quizzes, and I use that sometimes but it doesn't always help.

P.S. I really don't care for the teacher!!
Thank You!!

Use the resources you have, such as the midterm quizzes. At least give them a shot.

Make yourself flash cards, your own quizzes, and use learning tools (like remembering names or dates by connecting them to something you already know. For example, remembering that the capital of Belgium is Brussels. What might you think of when you hear the word Belgium? I always think of waffles. Then I remind myself that the capital is a food...but not waffles...Brussel sprouts! Get the idea?)

Lastly, check out this website : [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Good luck!

P.S. Don't let how you feel about the teacher keep you from succeeding. This is your life and you have to live with your grade, not your teacher.

Get together with friends and study. Make shure there are no distractions. Turn off all of your tv's n everything. Don't try to cram everthing in all at once. Study one night for like 20 mins, then next night for 30 mins, and so on. If all els fails, write answers on your hand and flirt with your SS teacher ;) hahaha JK

All you need to do is clam down and relax. If you stress yourself too much your not going to do well. Try locking yourself in your room, putting on some light music and just review over notes (good notes are great to study). Just relax and go over each question on the quizes that your teacher gives. Old tests help too.

Good luck !

If I had a dollar for everytime someone said they disliked their teachers, I would be as rich as Bill Gates. Anyway, you need to look at the big picture. Look at why you are in school and waht you are looking to accomplish. Look at these exams as your obstacles you have to go over to get to the big prize. Your future is what is important. These exams will be hard only if you make them hard. Go in there and take the bull by the horns and ace it so you can say to yourself you defeated the obstacle and the teacher that put the obstacle in front of you.

Hey, my exams are coming up too & what I started doing last year was this: 2 nights b4 the exam i review the material-just look over it & make sure I understand everything, then the night before the exam I really study and quiz myself etc. The better you know the material the more confident you will be. And it's okay not to understand stuff, just ask your teachers before the exam or go online & look it up, go to the library, ask your parents-ya never know what they might know lol.
I know exactly what you mean about cracking down and just studying-I can really be a procrastinator sometimes! I know that i can't concentrate for hours on 1 subject so i take breaks to get my mind off studying, like I'll just go watch TV or go outside or call a friend or something, then once i feel a little more relaxed i go back to studying. and for me, eating a snack while i study really helps! lol
It's good that you're concerned about your grades but just don't stress out too much, that can hurt you too, just don't let midterms engulf your life! Good luck & write back if you need more help!

Ok I know what it's like to be stressed out so here are some ideas to study.

1) Go in your room or at a desk with no electronics but a light that can't destract you.

2) Make flashcards.

3) Invite a friend over so you guys can study together and maybe you will get more work done.

4)When your done studying make sure you feel confident about the test, if you dont i would go back in there and study.

good luck

Just feel confident of yourself. I am a strait C student but I'm sure you can padd those mid terms. Don't study at night. Sleep early and that should cover it all.

Okay, first of all, breathe in, and out...
The best way for you to walk in confident is to think positively. If you don't care for the teacher, then channel that ‘negative’ energy into 'positive' energy. For example, think of the teacher’s face when then see that you aced the test! You also should be getting a good night sleep, it might sound like something that your parents would tell you, but it is true. Your body needs a full nights rest (if you are a teen about 8 hours a night) to recharge its battery. Also, DO NOT cram all of your studying into one night, study everyday but not like five hours at a time. And finally, pace yourself during the exam, just relax and tell yourself you will do fine, and you most likely will. It is all up to self-assurance and preservation within your mind. Do good, and hope that these tips helped!

i kno just what you mean-my midterms are coming up and im begginning to prepare. here are some Study tips: study at least for an hour. Take notes on what youv'e read and then go over what you learned. Get a good night sleep and a good breakfast before you leave for school. and remember to stay calm and not worry or fret over the test. (forget about the website-if it doesn't hepl, it doesn't help.) my teacher taught me a way to take good notes and remember what you read. What you do is read a paragraph and then write down a question that will summarize the paragraph. Then answer the question in your mind. It REALLY REALLY WORKS!
