Bad Columnists

Question Posted Tuesday January 18 2005, 5:34 pm

What are the administators going to do about the bad adivce people? I mean peopel like... The Cardboard Samurai or the Russian Mailman person? these people obviously aren't even trying and feel many people feel even worse. They may think its funny but their advice can lead to peopel doing stupid things. Any one else worried? Are they going to be banned? There seems to be more of them everyday.

Actually, someone responded to the 'mean' advice saying "(5) By far the greatest single piece of advice anyone has ever received on anything.", another was "(4) haha. Thanx. That was funny. "(3) lol...sorry I couldn't rate you a 5 becuz it wasn't really ADVICE..but it made me laugh and thanks for that!!! Trust me, I haven't laughed for a while...I really care about pierre and it sucks that he doesn't feel the same way..I hope he makes a right choice", "(5) lol thanks".
The people who aren't moronic and don't take it personally get what the answers are supposed to be, humor. People who are depressed and in a tough situation can look at it and see how silly their problem actually is, and laugh it off, making them feel better.
The only reason people feel worse is because they take it the wrong way. It's meant to have a sardonic tone.

Like what jbdreamer said, we don't just ban people for being rude. We allow free speech but if any of these columnists become obscene and abusive, than that's when we ban them. Just file an abuse report at this link: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location). Also, now that you have asked this question or stated your comment, these columnists will just continue to be really rude.

And because you just made this question they will continue. I'm not trying to be rude or mean, but as all of us moderators have said at one point or another, the more you give them attention, the more you give them what they want, and the more they do these things. If you have an issue file an abuse report. Someone has previously given you the link, so use it. And don't leave any comments in their inbox that are like this one. It will just make them want to do it more. There's a thing called freedom of speech and that is what they are getting. You have to realize that there are only so many of us, and there are plenty of them. The moderators can't ban every single person that gives rude advice. Again, I'm not trying to be rude or mean or anything, but the more you bring attention to it the more they want to do it. So you're just going to have to ignore it and pretend they aren't there. If it gets to a certain extent then eventually they are banned, or if there are enough abuse reports filed about them then they also have a chance of getting banned. But if you go to the sitemap or the faq then there will be a link for submitting any abuse. There's no harm, and the only people that know you're submitting is is the level 2 or 3 moderator that decides whether or not the person should be banned. SUBMIT A REPORT IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A COLUMNIST!!!!!!!

We don't ban people just because they give bad advice. We allow free speech on this site. We only ban people if they are obscene or abusive. If you feel someone should be banned in the future, please report the user here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
