If I were going to get a cat or dog, I'd go to an animal shelter or pound or something else like that. But I'm not getting a cat or dog I want to get a guinea pig. Does anyone know of a place where I could get one that NEEDS a home (other than an ordinary pet store?)

I heard that if pet store animals aren't purfect, they kill them!!!

MFS answered Monday January 17 2005, 4:42 pm: Your best bet here is to know people who already have Guinea Pigs and have breeded them - thus, they have lots of Guinea Pig babies and need to find homes for them.<br>

How do you find those people? Word of mouth. In all honesty - go to a small, local pet store (non-chain) and ask the manager - often, they have contacts with all sorts of pet owners and breeders and can help hook you up. In fact, often, the babies they have in the store for you to buy came from someone who bred the guinea pigs in their home. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
