snowwalker69 answered Wednesday January 5 2005, 10:03 pm:
it means you have low hemoglobin in your blood, which means not enough oxygen is getting to the tissues of your body. Hemoglobin carries oxygen. So he probley told you to eat iron supplements, because iron will build up your hemoglobin

anemic is where your blood cell count is low... and that means that you can not get the ample supply of oxygen... NOW DON't WORRY YOUR NOT GONNA DIE IT IS NOT FATAL as long as you are smart about it...because you have low oxygen levels that means that when you particpate in extracaricular activities you will become very tired and pass-out...so that means that becomeing involved in things that require running could endanger your life... but talk to your doctor about safety precautions......... i did some research for you and here is a really great website www.anemia.com (really good one) check it out it will do a better job then i could ever do

stay safe
good luck
kevin

xxBrOkEnxx answered Wednesday January 5 2005, 3:35 pm:
Anemic: Relating to anemia, the condition of having less than the normal number of red blood cells or less than the normal quantity of hemoglobin in the blood. The oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood is, therefore, decreased.

Persons with anemia may feel tired and fatigue easily, appear pale, develop palpitations and become unusually short of breath. Children with chronic anemia are prone to infections and learning problems.

A person can become anemic by four mechanisms. One or more of these mechanisms must be operating to produce anemia:

* Hemorrhage -- bleeding
* Hemolysis -- excessive destruction of red blood cells
* Underproduction of red blood cells
* Not enough normal hemoglobin

You have a low blood count. Which also means you get cold very easily. Its nothing dangerous that I know of, but its best if you keep a sweater with you.

rainbowcherrie answered Wednesday January 5 2005, 11:06 am:
It means you have lack of iron in your blood system. It's quite common, it isn't really dangerous or anything. Just eat more food containing iron or take iron supplements. If you're still concerned, go to your doctor.

BabiiD answered Wednesday January 5 2005, 10:34 am:
Oh, we talk about this in science class----It is more common in women than in men and it is when your iron levels are low so you have to take a vitamin with iron in it or intake more iron in your diet. And if you don't, it can make you feel wiped out and tired, so I think you should take the vitamin.

ShOrTnSwEeT42094 answered Wednesday January 5 2005, 7:56 am:
Anemia is a common blood disorder that simply means there's a decrease in the volume or level of red blood cells in your body.Usually some symptoms include paleness,feeling tired a lot,feeling weak,having very little energy,and generally feeling run down.It's very treatable,and usually is handled by increases the iron levels in your body,either with an iron supplement,an increase of iron in your diet,or a combination of both.Your doctor will probably want you to come back every so often for blood work to check the level again,and see how things are going.Don't stress yourself,many people have anemia,and it doesn't have them living anything less than normal!! Hope this helps! :)

wow, a fellow anemic!! okay, being anemic is when you have low levels of iron in your blood. not too life threatening, don't worry. one very easy way to make sure is to make a REAL sterling silver ring and rub it on your face, a little hardly, and you should see a black mark or line on your face. don't panic, it comes off, just rub it off. hope this helped, and if you have anymore questions, feel free to ask!

I really don't understand how your doctor told you that you're anemic without explaining what it is. Anemia is one of the more common blood disorders it occurs when the number of healthy red blood cells decreases in the body...go back to your doctor...i dont know how it's possible for him not to explain.
