Alright, I'm a little confused here...I want to tone my body, but I keep hearing that weights and squats and stuff will simply increase the size of my thighs and butt by adding more muscle...is running a good way to make them slimmer...some help here please!

Yes, it will increase the size of your thighs and butt but not really noticably. You'll notice it because you'll feel it, but not too many people will notice the size difference but the tone difference. [ Douchey's advice column | Ask Douchey A Question ]

If you lift lighter weights and do less repetitiions with less time in between sets, thats how you tone up. By lifting heavier weights, doing more repitions, and taking longer breaks after sets, thats how you gain muscle weight.

It will tone all of your body without a really tough workout. It also won't make you look all bulky because of the extra muscle. it will just do the trick.
KaTeLiZaBeTh answered Tuesday January 4 2005, 9:15 pm: when you build muscle, you burn fat...so the fat will disappear and you will gain muscle...so then your legs look a lot better and toned...big legs arent bad (if they're muscle) i have muscular legs and guys tell me all the time how hot they are...so work on them and if they do get muscular, look at it as a plus:-)

simplysweet66 answered Tuesday January 4 2005, 9:12 pm: No, no, no!! Muscle takes up less room than fat! You need to do cardio to get rid of the fat which takes up a lot more room than muscle and build your muscles which will make you burn more calories during the day.
