My friends think they're fat
Okay, 3 of my very good friends think they're fat... and they're NOT!!! we're only 13 years old and they've been going on all these diets. They hardly eat anything at lunch! I cant convince them that they're not fat! I'm really afraid they're going to go anorexic or bulemic. I dont know what to do, or what to say to them to convince them they're not fat. I've talked to them MANY times about it, but they just dont believe me. It really bugs me that they think they're fat, cuz they're not fat AT ALL! please help me!

there's a couple things you can do:
1) Give 'em a taste of their own medicine. @ all times (just for a little or untill they stop), start psychin' out on them, complaining about yourself, and see what they do. Or,
2) Go somewhere with just you and them, and tell them calmly (or crazily) that they're NOT fat, and if they can't realize that they need a new friend or
3) Go on a hunger strike, and if they really care about you, they'll start eating normally (or something of the type.)

i've been in the same spot as you. it gets annoying dosent it? well i know this sounds mean, but it's the only way to get them to see that they arent fat! if i every go somewhere and see someone a little bigger i say look at you compared to them- ok you aren't fat! and that seems to magically help! hope i helped and didn't offend anyone.

Bring them infront of a mirror, say "what do you see" then they will answer..if they say i see a fat cow or somethinn..tell em what you see and tell them they arent fat and then maybe they'll say "hey, im not, im not fat" ..hey thats just my perspective..thats how i would do it

I think that you should take them to the doctor or just ask the doctor if there is anything that you can do too help them. If he or she can't do anything, then you should have a talk with your parents too ask if they can have a talk with their(your friends) parents. I hope that this advice will work!!

Talk to them, tell them there not fat and you are concerned. If it does not work and it starts to get more serious tell there parent or another adult that could help.

Tell them that you are verrry concerned about them becoming anerexic, and if they don't start eating, your getting them counseling. And be DEAD serious, if they don't cut it out, make them an appointment with your school counselor.

OK, when i was at the age 13 i always said that i was FAT. But then when i got older i just got out of the stage. Some times when ppl don't get much at all it makes there body think that it has to store the food that they give to there body. All it takes is just to show them that there are not fat is just showing them to the girls that are to skinny and ask do the want to look like them. Cause some of the girls that i see look like they eat nota and are sick. And if they are worried that if the eat to much just don't eat the FastFood places and if you don't eat someting that is really grasey. Write to me if i help. hope i did. Love lots Michy

Everyone has that problem at some point or another. I always had people telling me that I wasn't fat, when I thought I was. I just had to grow out of it. Still to this day, I skip lunch, so dont worry, if they get hungry..they will eat! Just watch them for signs of eating disorders and things of that nature..but for right now..just keep telling them they are beautiful the way they are :)
