Question Posted Saturday January 1 2005, 5:22 pm

I asked my mom if I could get my belly button pierced and she said yes, but when we were trying to figure out where to go one of her friends said that you can get herpes from it and all this stuff like that and getting infected. So now my mom doesn't want me to anymore cause she doesn't want to be responsible for me getting some really bad infection or something like herpes. what can i do?

umm first of all you can't herpes from a beelybutton piercing my cousin is a professinol piercer (lisense) They will disifect the hollow needle and the belly button ring. All their tools are completely sterilized. They will also clean your belly button. Actually the belly button is probably one of the safest piercings. I got my tounge pierced and nothing went wrong with it and that is one of the dangerous piercings i wouldnt worry about hun... they will be completely honest with you at the piercing shop and they will sterlize all their materials.. Just make sure you go to a lisence professinal not a friends or someone at their house. Hope I helped and good luck

There's no way that you can get an STD or any other disease by gettin ur belly button pierced AS LONG AS... they use a new needle... when you get it done... they'll open a new needle infronta you... & if you go to a place where they dont... i suggest you dont get it done from there...

No, I'm almost positive you can't get herpes from getting your belly button pierced. However, you CAN get HIV, so be careful and make sure you get it done professionally.

Herpes? HaHa nope! You can't get herpes from getting your belly button pierced... but you could get aids.... from needles... which i've never heard of happening before... just make sure you go to a clean place and ask if the needle is sterelized! you can also get an infection... but thats if you don't take proper care of it! the piercing person will give you more details! good luck! hope it works out! :)

What the? You can't get herpes from a belly button piercing! I've had my belly button pierced since the summer and it never got infected! Your mother's friend is lying so your mom won't let you get it pierced. Yes, it can get infected but you just have to treat it. Just tell your mom that what her friend said wasn't true and that you can't get herpes from it! Wow. Hope I helped :)
