I wore hoops in mine withing 3-5 months so you are fine go ahead and wear it. Actually the hoops are healthier. Mine got infected with the one that i got it pierced with and I changed my earring to a hoop and it healed.

Ask the lady again, chances are, she's either pulling your leg, or it's true. Meanwhile, if you want to wear the earrings, try, and check it everyonce in awhile. If your cartilige hurts, or feels weird, take the earring out and examine your cartilige. If anythings wrong, clean your cartilige, and put your original earring back in for a while.

Well, I got my cartilidge pierced about 6 or 7 months ago, and it still hurts sometimes. The hoop isn't a good idea quite yet because the part of the hoop that goes through your ear is usually bigger than a post. That means you will have to stretch it (which hurts REALLY bad). So I think if I were you, I'd stick with the post for now. The lady knows what she's doing and I would trust her. It's better safe than sorry--wait the 9 months and then go for it. Good luck =)

I was told not to wear hoops in my cartilage for 12 months because most hoops are thinner because it is a wire instead of a post. If you take your post out and put hoops in the hole may close up around the hoop's wire making it so you can only wear hoops... Just keep a post in for at least 6 months (12 months is actually what was recommended when I got mine.) You could probably get away with wearing the hoops for a day or two as long as you switch back to posts before they grow shut.
