what do they do?
Okay, this may sound dumb, but im confused.
If you call a suicide hotline, do they call the cops? Especially since you are in danger? I have always wondered this and my councelor at school gave me a list of hotlines because I am always thinking about suicide.

no they dont. i called. they connect you to someone close by and they ask if u want them to call ur parents or w/e but they dont call the cops.

listen you moron, suicide is not the answer to anything, you need to figure out whats really good in your life and live it day by day. just think about what you will accomplish by killing yourself.....nothing infact you will only make it harder on all the people that have to tend to your dead body. you need some love in your life go out and find a girl/boy that you like and fuck them

Hey Darlin'... I've been there before... No, suicide hotlines are completely confidential. They are meant for anonymous counseling basically. Most, if not all, ask you if you are in a real emergency to hang up and dial-911... Most would like to know your name and some other little information about yourself just so they know you a little more personally to help you... But you don't have to give them any of your information... I recommend 1-800-SUICIDE .. ALSO, there are a few organizations that offer counseling via E-mail. OMG babe, i can totally relate. Im always thinkin about suicide..cause it seems to me i have no better option and i just hate everything. BUt babe, suicide is not the answer and i finally understand that. I mean its not gonna solve anything. ANd if you do kill yourself..everyone will just mourn over your death. My friend killed himself about 2 years ago and everyone was really sad! He just couldnt take it anymore..and i cant either but im not gonna do it! KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!! i dont think they do, but they offer people tp help you, but im pretty sure they dont like call ne body else, becuase ur comming to them secertly and thats the point of the hotline, and plus u dont have to tell them anything about yourself and it can b tottaly anominous

no they offer counselation and it is all confidential. if they were to call the police then that is against the law. if you were seriously thinking about suicide then you need to call one of these hotlines or get one on one counseling. hope i helped.

Nope. I am 100% positive that they don't. Its a private/confidental thing. If you wanna be sure dial *67 before and it blocks your number. (its free too) bUt they are their to help you... not rat you oUt! you should DefInaTleY call thOugH! i dont want anything 2 happen to you! :(

No they do not call the police. They just talk to you about what your about to do/want to do and try to help out!

the majority of hotlines will not call the police, but try and talk it out with you. they are a team of people that talk to you, asking you questions that seem to uplift you out of your mental state.
