ShOrTnSwEeT42094 answered Wednesday December 29 2004, 9:39 am: Yes,unfortunately highlights do fade away fairly quickly. Try using shampoos, conditioners, and other hair products that say they are for Color-Treated hair.I think John Frieda makes a special product just for blonde highlights. Also, try washing your hair every other day, because by washing it every day you strip it of it's natural oils, and dried out,over-washed hair will lose it's color quicker.Try taking some days off from the straightening iron too,to give your hair a break from all that heat. And when you do use the straightening iron, spray on a heat protector spray first,Pantene makes a really good one that even smells good!Hehe! Hope this helps! [ ShOrTnSwEeT42094's advice column | Ask ShOrTnSwEeT42094 A Question ]

AdInA answered Monday December 27 2004, 5:23 pm: straightening your hair doesn't make the color fade away faster, but it does damage the hair and color. it depends on what kind of straightner you use.. if you use CHIs, they will keep your hair healthy! even though it's really expensive, it's totally worth it. the best shampoo to use for your high lights is biolage. do not use pantene.. even though it supposidly helps the color, it dries out your hair! or you can you use herbal essence.. that stuff is really good for your hair! lol.. try not to wash your hair so much, because it is really unhealthy for your hair, and yes it will help the color fade away faster. to help the color stay there, use silk that helps protect your hair and color before blow drying or straightening your hair! Advice_x33 answered Monday December 27 2004, 12:08 pm: If you straighten it and wash it, it will go away faster, or it did for me anyway..
I tried a lot of things to get my highlights to stay for a while, the best thing i can say to you is to just get your highlights redone after they go away [ Advice_x33's advice column | Ask Advice_x33 A Question ]

PrettyPinkBeastie answered Monday December 27 2004, 9:37 am: Well, to keep the highlights nice and shiny you want to get a brush that has silver "tongs" or whatever you call the brush things lol...and then you want to wash your hair with a color stay shampoo...there are products such as Herbal Essence and Pantene Pro-v that offer "Colorstay" shampoos and conditioners...but I suggest investing in Redken colorstay shampoo and conditioner...that will really work. Also, the highlights will not just disappear if you straighten and wash it every day...but they will fade. You see, the highlights are growing out while your hair grows out, but they will fade when washed. Just take good cares of your hair! If you have any more questions, please leave them in my inbox! bAhAmAmA0250 answered Sunday December 26 2004, 11:19 pm: Well its pretty much the growth of your hair not the color fading really. for washing it.. you can buy shampoo and conditioner that help color treated hair stay brighter longer. Just make sure you use good shampoo n conditioner to keep the color. Maybe when you get your hair done at the salon ask if they have any good shampoo's or conditioners.. like hair care stuff. And for straightning your hair.. that wont harm it-trix [ bAhAmAmA0250's advice column | Ask bAhAmAmA0250 A Question ]
NEVERLETG00 answered Sunday December 26 2004, 11:18 pm: well theres shampoo that dyes your hair, little by little.. but i dont think straightening it will make it go away faster or washing it, because washing your hair with shampoo AND conditioner is bad for your hair. you can buy a home highlighting kit for 10-20 dollars, which isn't expensive compared to prices at salons. well good luck, sounds cute! x0 [ NEVERLETG00's advice column | Ask NEVERLETG00 A Question ]
TiCkLeD_pInK540 answered Sunday December 26 2004, 11:09 pm: Yes, straigtening you hair every day can reduce the color of your highlights. To prevent using your color and protect your hair, use a color-treated shampoo. If you have straight hair i suggest Dove Moisture Rich Color Shampoo, for $4 sold in drugstores. If you have curly/wavy hair i suggest Matrix Curl.Life Defining System Shampoo for $10, sold in drugstores. And if you have relaxed hair try Neutrogena Triple Moisture Cream Lather Shampoo for $6 also sold in drugstores. I hope i've been as helpful as possible! Good Luck!
Always,

Karen answered Sunday December 26 2004, 11:06 pm: Yup, straightening and washing your hair everyday will fade your highlights! Try buying a shampoo and conditioner that's for colored hair so it'll help not fade the color! I use Vive from Loreal but Pantene ProV also works great! Try not straightening your hair that much! Hope I helped :)
