i've been absent from school 7 1/2 days this year. ive been sick a lot and there are lots of bugs going around.plus i broke my elbow earlier. well i was absent today and the vice principal called. he said i had to go school or they'd get the county involved. he said that the max number of days you can be absent in a year is 10, but the rules state 20. it also says you cant miss more than 5. well the first grading period i was absent 5 days, so that isnt breaking any rules. should i be in trouble for this because he is clearly lying? i dont see how im breaking any of the written rules. ive heard of no such change in them either so it isnt like i missed it. what do i do?

Usually when the say absences, then mean unexcused, have you have a doctors note? If they were excused, then it shouldn't matter, but if they were unexcused, then it was most likely because you were skipping, so it has to be like that. From what you're saying I don't think you have broken any rules, but try going to school sick, just don't cough or sneeze or anything like that on anyone, and when a teacher asks you why you didn't stay home, tell them if you miss anymore school, then you _______ (whatever happens when you miss a certain amount of school) Talk to your guidance councelor, and ask him/her about the absency policy. Usually if you make up the work then it's okay, but it really all depends on where you live. Like, I live in Concord, NC... and you live, wherever you live... get it¿?

I think if you have a doctor's note for when you are sick, that day you were absent won't count towards anything. That's how it goes around me. That's really not fair if you were sick, because you can't help that. Did you not have a doctor's note? Maybe that will help. If you did, maybe this is just a misunderstanding. If it is, just talk to your principal or another adult in charge at your school. Good luck =)

just tough it up and go to school. and when your absent as long as you make up all of the work you missed in all of your classes then you should be fine. they really cant do anything if you are a good student who puts effort into your work and studies and who completes all of your work. if they do try to hold you back or anything else they want to do to you, you can fight them. go against the school board at the magistrate. and as long as you have doctors excuses for the days you missed it will be fine and they cant do anything to you. if you dont then go back and get the dates of the days you missed for being sick and call up your doctor and get him to write some excuses for your illnesses,.

Wow that's nothing... i've missed about 15 days so far... you can only miss 12 a year in fairfax county... but no one questions your absences here as long as they are excused... your principal shouldn't be able to get the county involved... if your sick your sick... plain and simple... even if he does... you should be ok as long as you have ur legal guardian to back you up...

If I were you,I would first get a statement from your doctor saying that you have been sick and you have been under their care.Make sure the doctor goes details reguarding your illnesses.By having a doctors' excuse,you have proof that you have been sick,and that you cannot return until such-and such date. Then I would take your copy of the rules or rulebook,and highlight the part where you say it clearly states the rules are 20 days.Then,you,and your parents should take that rulebook,and schedule a meeting with the vice principal or the necessary authority figure(maybe it's the superintendant)to discuss this situation.I've TOTALLY been there and done that.I got the truent officer at my door,the threatning letters,the threats to send my parents to jail,threatening not to allow me to graduate,blah blah blah! I was sick a lot because I have a weak immune system,but the school still put my family and I thru hell....until they got notes from my doctor explaining how sick I was and that I was unable to attend school on the dates that I missed.I wouldn't worry yourself too much right now,stress will only make being sick worse!Keep me posted!! :)

i think hes just trying to scare you. Don't worry too much about it. You know what the rules are, he probably thinks you don't. If he says anything else tell him that you were sick and that youre going to try to miss as few days as possible and then just mention what the rule really is. But don't worry about it. You haven't missed that much.

well u have an arguement if they get contry + u didnt do anything a good way to get rid of colds are to get medicine like echnasia or vitamin c! srry and all you need to do is go to school!

WoW! jeez ur princible has a problem! Well calmly tell him/her that you cant help it if you are sick and that the rules havent changes that you know of and the whole state rules thing because i think that he/she is full of crap. tell me how it goes! -*-SNOOZIN-*-
