I'm one of those people that finds it easier to remember things by writing them down. I'll write things down over and over until it's set in my memory. Also, if it's like with orders of events or something like that, i try to make up a song that makes sense. In biology I once remembered the difference between eukaryotic and prokaryotic by knowing that eukaryotic is the one with the nucleus, because it has the letters "eu" in it and so does nucleus. Just do anything you can to link a word with what it means, like what I did, read the material a billion times before a test, do practice questions in the book, ask yourself what the teacher will probably include on the test, and know the material. If nothing works, you might have a real problem; if your homework grades are really high and test grades are extremely low, you should talk to your guidance counselor or teacher about it.

All those other things are really good suggestions. Be sure to get a good night's sleep and eat some kind of breakfast. Even just an apple. It helps you think better when you aren't hungry.

TALK TO YOUR TEACHER AFTER SCHOOL. I am in honors biology myself and I thought I knew the material but I kept getting C's on tests and thats not me. She helps me study and etc and I think its going to help my grade. Its nothing to be ashamed of, its something to be proud of. After all, this means that are you responsible and you WANT to get better grades!

I hope this helps leave one in my inbox,
Caitlin

There are a few simple things you can do. First, have someone quiz you over your notes. That way you can see how much you really know. Then, even if you're by yourself, act like you're teaching the material to someone else. I know this sounds silly, but you remeber 80% of what you teach to someone else. It's only like 40% of what you read. I'm in education, and this is something i have my students do! it works really well. good luck and let me know how it goes!
