LeG aChES!

Question Posted Tuesday November 2 2004, 4:30 pm

I am 16-f. For a month or so now... i have been having horrible leg pains. Like achey. They hurt so bad I can't sleep sometimes. I was thinking it could be growing pains... but I am almost done growning. (I'm 5'8) and even when I was like 12 and growing... my legs didnt hurt this much. What could this possibly be from and any suggestions how to cure it? (besides the obvious: medicine) Thanks so much!

=O I have growing pains right now! And I'm tall too. If you're young you don't stop growing until.. well, a couple years. They're growing pains, and medicine would be the slower but better way to cure it. Also, I'd walk around. If you lay around somewhere, you can kinda feel the pain more, right?

Your hips or probably speading...but if you play sports it might be from that. I play a lot of sports and get sore a lot so what i do is take a hot bath with epsum salt. I relaxes your muscles.

Consider seeing a doctor. Your aches may be remnant growing pains, or it could be an indicator of another medical problem. My growing pains were terribly, much like you described...but when they kept on into my late teens I went to a doctor and found out that I had a condition of the patella and fibula in my knees that caused great pain. I did a little physical therapy, but it didnt help much. As I got older, the pain is less and less frequent.

Try using a heating pad, electric blanket or hot water bottle in the meantime, that always soothed the pain! And make sure the pain killer that you're taking doesn't contain caffeine since that will keep you from sleeping.

Is it like a BAD charlie horse? If it is it's because you don't drink enough water. If it's not then maybe you should go to the doctors because my friends has problems like that with her leg and she has to take medicine and therapy.

if you do sports, that could be whats causing the pain. try doing stretching like yoga or Pilates. Itll soothe your muscles and ease the pain.

stretch your legs out before you go to sleep. I sometimes get Charlie horses while I sleep, but I find that if I walk alot during the day or exercise a bit, they don't happen. And like jbdreamer said drink more water, dehydration could be a cause. If they still occur it could be a lack of viatmins (B and potassium... I think). Ask your doctor to recommend a multivitamin that would help, if they still bug you.

Well, it is probably from a sport that yuu played, or something that yuu did that used the muscles in your legs. Pain is just weakness leaveing your body. Maybe if yuu havn't done anything that used your leg muscles, well then ii suggest just going to the doctor. Good luck. Hope ii helped!

Leg cramps are a sign of dehydration. Did you know 50% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Are you drinking enough water everyday? This could be a simple solution.
