Heya! I'm passing out candy on Halloween, and I want to know how I should decorate my porch. Nothing too big or expensive, just stuff I can do from things I have around the house. I think I'll have the candy in a hollowed out pumpkin, but I'm not sure what to do to decorate my porch. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Tie the sheet so it wont fall off around the balloon. Then make a face on the sheet. You've got a ghost! Also you can make a scarecrow with newspapers and old clothes and buy a scary mask and have your scarecrow sit on the porch next you handing out candy. thats a cool pumpkin idea!

S_C answered Saturday October 2 2004, 6:55 pm: I like vikyooos idea, and also what I'm doing is I'm buying a bunch of silly string, and for the older kids, if they have REALLY cool costumes, I'm going to spray them, if you get it at wal-mart, then it'll be like $10 for 5 cans, or around that price, or if you do the thing where you sit there, and the kids take more then one, and the sign says take one, you can SPRAY!!
Black and orange balloons would be cool, I like the idea that you have with the candy in the pumpkin, I would say if you were going to do it in your garage, then have a plastic cauldron with dry ice in it, so it smokes, but that's sort of dangerous to touch, so maybe a smoke machine, or just have a bunch of cobwebs, and spooky stuff. Watch an Addams Family movie, and see the types of things around their houses.
All you have to really do is go to the store, look at EVERYTHING, and see which things look cool.
If you have a joke shop near you, then get a bunch of those things, and be like who ever can tear this will get extra candy (like there are unrippable toilet paper things) then randomly w/o the kids looking, when it goes from an older kid to a much younger one, swich out the toilet paper, for the real kind, and give the little kid extra candy.
I can't believe I even thought of some of this stuff. Just brainstorm, it's CRAZY on what you can come up with [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
vickiooos answered Saturday October 2 2004, 5:26 pm: umm... well me and my friend when we were younger had this little "gig" thing we always did on her porch halloween night. we'd have her older brother sit in this chair with a bowl or whatever you want to use (the pumpkin idea sounds cute) and we'd have a sign that says take only one. and this was the basic outline of the tradition.. well a few years back we went all out with cobwebs in the corners and weird noises and we'd hide in the bushes and make rattling noises and such. The kids ate it up! they'd be so scared and finally convince themselves that it was some mannikin sitting in the chair.. hope i helped. [ vickiooos's advice column | Ask vickiooos A Question ]
