when i grow up i want to be a cosmotolegist. sorry if thats spelled wrong im in a hurry. but anyways i know they do face makeup but what else do they do? and how can i get started? im only 14..is there a site about a college that does that stuff. thanks

they do face make up, hair, & if i'm not mistaken, manicures and pedicures. an easy way to get started on the hair is either get a wig and cut that or try cutting your friends hair (If they'll let you). to get started on the nails you can do your own and/or a friend's. nails aren't that hard. ya jus gotta work on it. and last, but not least, to get started on the face make-up, once again, you can try doing your own or a friend's(As long as they let you).

I am in school for cosmetology now. See if your school offer this class through a vocational/technical school. Go down and talk to your counselor. You have to be in tenth grade to take it, atleast at my school. I am pretty sure it is the same in all schools because it is a state law, but i guess it alll depends on where you live. But your counselor should be able to help you with this. If you have a vo-trech school and it has this course to take he will be able to assign you to it and if not then he will beable to help you locate some information on how to become one and what schools will help you in this feild of study.
As for what they do- They do several different types of things.
*Facials
*manicures
*pedicure.
*nails - acrylic, tips, full, fill in, design/painting
*hair cutting
*hair coloring- highlithing, lowlighting, tinting, frosting, tipping, etc.
*hair relaxing- straighten the hair
*perming
*styling
*up-dos
*braiding- cornrow, french braid, fishtail braid, regular braids, etc.
*extensions- adding additional, longer hair to yours.
there are so many more things that a cosmo. can do. There are several different varieties of a cosmetologist, depending on which field of cosmetology you planned to get into and make a career out of. I hope this has helped you.

*cosmetology* for all the people who spelled it wrong, just to help you out! =) Anyhow, that's what I want to do as well, and have, forever. For people to say don't get excited, they don't make a lot of money is kinda messed up because; for one, the money isn't bad, and for two, if you're happy with what you do in life you're going to be a whole hell of a lot more happy then if you don't care for what you do, even if you make 10X the amount of money. Depending upon where you live you can find out about where you can go to school...I dono where you live, but I know here in Omaha we have two Cosmetology schools. It's a year and one month in school and then you have to go out on your own and find a job, which may not be easy at first depending on where you live. Also, you specialize in usually one or two things...like; hair, makeup, manicure/pedicure, or facials. Few other things branch out from those. Anyhow, I hope I helped and good luck!!

Well my cousins a cosmotoleg....well i can't spell either and not in a hurry, but she does hair, face, manicure, pedicure, facials, toes, hands, finger. Mostly what you do if you go to school for that you will most likely become a hiar stylist. thats what you do most of the time.
You can get started by looking for websites, google something like "School of Cosmotoligy" they will give you the listings of schools in your area.

Well, I should think that you should look into studying the subject at your local community college and getting a job at the make-up center in a department store. But, you'll probably change your mind soon enough... most fourteen year olds don't know what they'll do in life.

So do I. The school downtown does make-up, skin, nails and hair. Just type in "cosmetology school" Yeah, that's not spelled right, and your city at google.com. They'll show all the schools in your area. Also, ask the local hair stylists if they know any around your area. Good luck!
