one of my best friends was in the exact same situation last year. She went on Weight Watchers and it REALLY helped her. She's lost nearly 40lbs in something like 3 or 4 months. And she's still losing. It worked really well for her, and she no longer thinks of killing herself and she's a much much happier and more outgoing person. Plus, she looks really good! ]
to loose 35 pounds, if she sticks to a good diet it may take her a quick month.. maybe shorter.. umm put her on the atkins diet i heard it works realllly well, have her cut carbs, and she needs to sign up for a gym. Little by little her wieght will go down. Tell her not to kill herself, tell her all she needs is a little hard work and she'll be magicly 'unembarrassed' give her encouragemnet, it will help her the whole way through. Good luck! ]
Go to www.southbeachdiet.com For more information about the South Beach Diet. It's more effective than the Atkins Diet and plus, it's a TON more healthier than Atkins. Make sure to tell her to jog for 30 minutes each day and also, this exercise really helps:
Pilates Sit-ups
Lie down on your back and stick your legs straight in the air (or diagonally, whatever works).
Lift your head and upper back so that your head is almost touch your knees.
Raise your arms so that they are parallel to the ground (and next to your hip-bones).
Keeping your arms in the parallel position, raise them up and down at the same time (do this SUPER FAST). Each time your arms go down count that as a pilates sit-up.
Do 100 pilates sit-ups (count to ten ten times, it makes the time seem to pass faster)
When you feel like you need quicker results, do 200 pilates sit-ups at a time, or 300, 400, etc.
I have MANY more exercise routines, just Instant Message me or E-Mail me, (both my screen name and email are in my advice column) or drop one in my inbox. :)
hope that I helped u, good luck sweetie! rate me please! lol ]
I went on the atkins diet and lost 50 lbs in 3 months. The main exercise that I did was walking for at least 30 minutes, 3 times a week. She can find all the info that she needs at atkins.com. Hope I helped. ]
tell her to quit eatin lil debbies, get out and walk around the neighborhood for starters. c a doctor! ]
Yeah, it would be awesome for her to go to the doctor, they could hook her up with a nutritionist, and check if something is seriously wrong with her. She should try to get the weight off before it does serious damage to her joints. You could go to weightwatchers with her or something.. ]
Since she's only 14, I don't think a diet would be helpful, especially since popular diets these days eliminate entire food groups which can be dangerous to someone still growing. I definitly think she should go see a doctor, just to help with her nutrition. In fact most weight loss programs recommend you consult your doctor before changing anything. The food pyramid may be a good start. Drinking lots of water helps lose weight. I think generally you lose 1-2lbs a week, so it will take a little while.
Start walking with her, and each time you go walk a little faster and further. Once she gets comfortable with that, add more excersies that she's interested in. ]
Well,If you think she has thighroids,DEFINITELY take her to the doctor right away.
I lost 24 pounds during the summer using the atkins diet and excercise, but slightly modified because im still growing and need calcium,or maybe I cannot work out as hard as an adult etc.
She should have a doctor help select a program based on her specific needs, and customized to her age.
It takes time to lose weight,it is different for every person. The important thing to do is keep at it,even when the water weight comes off and you are losing very slowly.
The following diets DO NOT work:
cottage cheese
or any diet where you only eat one type of food!!:)
REMEMBER:Crash diets are bad for obvious reasons, but also somthing to keep in mind is that if you lose weight TOO fast,You will have lots of loose skin that was sretched out,and it will not shrink back.
Also,dont forget to maintain!
Find friends or family to help for support, and mix it up so you dont get bored!
try yoga, aerobics,or dancing to your favorite music.
There are punk rock aerobics, belly dancing aerobics, whatever you like best!
Watch the calories, they sell generic brand popsicles that have 30 calories, and they are so good!(For moments when your feeling weak)
also, dont forget to take a break once in awhile for a day or two!
Well hope that helped :)
If I can do it,so can you :):)
::::Oh geez!Excuse the spelling!::::: ]
Put her on a diet. I know of a no carb diet that works really good! I lost 10 lbs in one week and 2-3 lbs every week after that. If you want more information on this diet jut leave a message in my inbox. Also, tell her stop eating junk food, drink water not soda, and tell her to start walking! Good luck:) ]
